Retardiculous lives up to her name...Follow

Sophus, while the topic title does seem to suggest a dig at Ret, when I read the body of the post, it sounded to me like he wanted to know what he did wrong, and wanted to know if he should be doing something different. My response to him was to address that issue - was his gear OK?

I've also known Ret for a long time, even though I'm not a close friend. I knew both her and her boyfriend from my old LS and was the one who asked them to join FU in the first place (even though neither one turned out to be very involved). Regardless of any player issues involved, the real point at issue I believe the OP was trying to get at was whether he should have done anything differently. Not being in the party or knowing all the circumstances involved, I'm not going to pass judgment on any players. But I can try to answer his question ("Am I doing something wrong here?")

Expecting things to go perfectly in the dunes is just not reasonable at all. IT'S THE DUNES! People die - a LOT. It happens; get over it. People are busy learning their jobs, even if it is their 5th or 10th job, each one is still a little bit different. Or you could be like me, having taken RDM, WHM, and BLM all through the dunes and then deciding to try WAR, THF, or NIN (which I found to be extremely new and challenging). Expecting someone to be GOOD at their job that early also isn't reasonble. It's a learning process. It's also a GAME, for goodness sake. Stop obsessing about getting level 10-20 in one day, much less an afternoon. Set your homepoints, get your asses back up, and get back into it.

So while you bring up some valid points about things players can do to control the situation, nine times out of 10, a link of IT gobs at that level probably will kill your party, no matter what your skill. Expecting to be able to deal with every contingency at that level is much different than expecting it 50+. If you are trying, and keep trying to learn, that's all that really matters.

sounds to me like the OP is just confused as to why he was kicked, and is maybe looking for some affirmation to Retardiculous' mental well being.

Was something left out? probably. Do I care? no. Am I gonna blacklist/avoid retardiculous? nah (never met the person fwiw)

To the OP:
It's the dunes, I've been there way too many times, and could tell you a bazillion stories about idiots there. Like this one time, I was in a pt with Sophus.... eh, never mind. Better off just ignoring the idiots, and continuing on. If you put up a post for every idiot you meet, you'll never get anything done in-game.

Taterz: Ret has never done garrison. Whatever encounter you had, must have been with someone else.

Starilae: The issue you had with Ret was actually an issue with ME. I was the party leader and the crappy pld (i forget the name) was a complete idiot and I was the one who booted them. Don't bring Ret down for MY actions. And grow some balls and talk to my face (or her's if you still think it's her) about it.

As to the situation, I've PLed most of Ret's parties, and the only time she's actually booted anyone out or even commented on gear or play style, is when they show up to the party NAKED. And being naked with a mnd+1 and an int+1 ring doesn't mean they showed up with multiple, or even addequite, sets of gear. It means they were ill-equipped to the point of bringing the party down. (For examples sake, a naked blm that pulls hate will survive 1 or 2 hits whereas a blm in level 10 equip would be able to take 3 to 4 which certainly matters.)

But perhaps there is some substance to the quote "It's the dunes." Maybe the OP could grow up a bit and talk to someone (perhaps a linkshell) about their gear. However, from the wording, as Sophus said, this person is not looking to actually ask about their gear; they're simply looking to bash someone, Ret in this case.

As for the gear itself, even in the dunes, no one should show up naked. People show up in starting gear all the time (usually black mages) and that just shows their level of dedication to the job. Agree or disagree, but as for myself, I'm not going to party with someone like this. It takes 20 min. tops in north gustaberg to farm enough beehive chips for a decent set of level 10 gear.

Ret is the greatest bard and player I've seen in the game and I've seen her get into VERY few quarrals with anyone. On those few instances, it was with someone who was severely under-equipped. And, as this OP shows, they attempt to only bash Ret rather than actually ask a constructive question regarding their gear.
