Wanting to come back and join Shiva.Follow

#1 Jan 01 2007 at 2:38 AM Rating: Good
Like the subject line says I'm wanting to come back to Final Fantsy XI after taking some time off, though I no longer have any of my old characters which I actually think is a good thing, mostly because I want a fresh/new start. I would like to join onto the Shiva server, but after reading some things I started to have some concerns.

I'm not sure if this is all being exagerated but I've heard that it's hard to actually start a new character? I've heard that the dunes are practicaly empty for one thing, is this true? Is this the case on Shiva? the server which I hope to make my home on. Also I'm curious as to how the community on Shiva is, so any notes on that would be appreciate it.

I understand this may seem a little odd, but I wanted to ask before I got ready to come back for good. Thanks in advance!

Well Shiva is an old server so most of its community is entrenched in endgame activities (HNMS, Dynamis, Limbus, Sky, etc). There are still some lower lvl players but not what it used to be. When I started off in dunes there would be almost 4-6 different parties at once in the lizzy lvl area but now passing by on choco all I see are 1-2 RMT pts lvling their gimp jobs.

As for community, there are a lot of good LS's that will welcome someone new or someone coming or anyone at all. B.R.D is a good LS to go to if your re-starting; since they have both new players and advanced ones.

RevenantVDA,

Thanks for your reply, and that is one of my main concerns really is that if the dunes are more empty then will the "climb to 75" be well impossible? I wouldn't really mind a slow tredge because by starting now when alot more players are higher up I am kind of bringing it on myself in a way I guess.

I do want to come back to the game though, after talking about it with some freinds I realized yeah.. I really miss this game.

Just because the dunes and other low level areas aren't as cramped as they once were, they aren't empty. It may take a little more time getting a party, but that's it. Once you get to the jungles and beyond, there's still a hefty load of people leveling, and from there it's just a matter of what job you are in way of invites. Besides, dunes suck, you can take almost any job to 15 or so quite easily, grab yourself a decent party and head to Korroloka Tunnel and kill worms till 20 and head to Qufim.

Anybody worth their salt will agree to a K-Tunnel party over a dunes party anyday. Get yourself a good ls and convince a few members to level some low lvl job with you, you'll probably find a few that wanna break the monotomy of whatever their doing for a little change of another job every now and then.

Thanks for your reply Pokiehl.

I had totally forgotten about worm parties in the tunnels, makes me want to smack myself! I don't mind slow invites at all, if things are not moving at all I'm sure I could make a party if I just stick to it. Now I just hope the Shiva Server won't mind packing one more adventurer into the bunch. lol

Honestly; you might surprise yourself. Knowledge of the game; areas, quests and missions alone will help you if you do decide to start over with a new character.

A couple of months ago I went through a period in which I seriously considered leaving the game; I was disenchanted and burned out; for various reasons. I started a new character one day; and actually had a ball for a couple of weeks. With no real obligations; linkshell or destination in mind, I leveled, took myself to the dunes at level 10 and looked at the game from a whole new perspective!

I observed everyone from a different viewpoint; one without expectations; no demands, no drama; and laughed at things people took so serious. Heck; at level 10 - the biggest thing most players care about is figuring out how to make some gil to buy stuff from the ah; or what to do with those crystals that drop from mobs!

One day, I set off with some oils andn powders and solo'd myself to Rank 2, in one of those "Inner or Outer" Ruins in Windy, and had a ball. I even learned how to fish! My character still exists and once in awhile I level *her* up; do a few quests or missions, etc.

It sounds like you want to come back and miss the game; so I hope you do! I think we Shivan's are a great family and a great server!

So!!! Just jump in; have fun with it - start a whole new adventure with a whole new perspective along with the competitive advantage of knowledge of game.

Good luck on your journey!

Best bet for you, as the others have said, is to get a good ls, there are many available, but I highly suggest B.R.D. and FU is good too if you like an almost 24-7 comedy :D
I have seen a lot of linkshells staticing their low levels, so you might not have such a hard time leveling as you may expect.

Again I have to thank everyone for the great replies to my questions, etc. At first I was a little worried of just getting "omg go join Ifrit server we dun want your kind round these parts!" heh, glad I didn't get that. At this time I am still back home, having come back to visit for the holidays and spend the time with my family I'm not able to start back over since well, can't from here. However because of all the replies I got I feel I should say, don't be surpised if I'm posting here again in about a week asking for a worldpass!
