FFXI-4001 errors anyone?Follow

#1 Mar 11 2007 at 11:12 PM Rating: Decent
Hi all, I just wanted to get on here and ask if anyone else has been having this ffxi-4001 error the past 2 days. Everything was fine till like 2 days ago where I went from playing hours nonstop with no d/c...to going from 100 percent down to 0 in 30 seconds from the time the character logs in. Ive tried all the tips ive read on other sites like disabling my firewalls and programs. Im just wondering if there is anything else. I am running directly off a cable modem wire and I cant even log on the game at all anymore. I get through playonline just fine, but as soon as sweet logs in I get booted. Just wondering if anyone has any tips. thanks

That problem usually only affects you in specific zones. Until the larger problem gets fixed, you can solve it by just zoning to somewhere else before you get kicked off. Several people have also reported that forcing an IP address change will sometimes switch which zones you get DCed in, and will sometimes fix it altogether.

I got a brand-spanking new copy of FFXI on Thursday so I could start my long-awaited new account (I've been sharing a character with my husband all along). He calls me at work to tell me he came home to find it has arrived! <excitement>

I race home, thinking great I'll d/l the game & update tonight, then play all weekend :D I install & start the updates. I think to myself 7 hours for updates is a little much, but I'm installing everything at once so no big deal, I'll leave it on overnight. In the morning it's still not done! OK, no biggie I'll leave it on Friday while I'm at work - only 3 hours to finish the download anyway.

Gundragon's d/l actually took as long as mine, so we think it must be just a big update. Some of our friends have the same thing, and we read similar stories on alla. It's done when I come home & I make my new character /hurray!

I start the painful process of starting over. (Ladydragon btw) I'm in Bastok and I get a pearl from my LS, even though I'm only a measly lvl 1/0 character (oh the shame!) and I hear people are going crazy over this R=0 issue. I am told to stay away from North Gusta at all costs. A friend spent 4 hours in the zone because he was lost and there's no compass or map while you're in that situation. (kinda sad I know, and we all lol'd him) I had no choice but to try entering N Gusta myself, or stay a lvl 5 char forever. I enter the zone, everything is fine. However, Konshtat Highlands is dead to me. I try to run through but after my 5th or 6th DC I log in to find that I'm dead. I have no option but to HP back to Bastok ;..;

I solo in N Gustaberg up to lvl 14, then try again to run for the Dunes. I make it through after 11 DC's, because I'm avoiding areas I think would be more likely to get me aggro. I successfully party in the dunes for 2 days, and I find that I can run to Sandy without any problems, as long as I avoid South Sandy. I get to level 18, I get a crab apron, damselfly worm & magicked skull with help from the LS (thanks guys!) and run to Selbina. OMFG Selbina is R=0 there's no way i can run to Mhaura I'll DC somehwere along the way & die from aggro. So unless they fix this I'm going to look like an RMT with no subjob I just hope I can get into Jeuno because if I am unable to do the chocobo quests I just don't know if I'll be able to go on :(

Yea that same ffxi-4001 error whenever I dc
And now a new problem when trying to log in the load bar freezes when it reaches "acquiring server data" then finally times out with error 3113.

Gundragon's account does have the exact same problems as mine, so I'm open to the idea it's somehow on my end, but I just don't know how to fix it. I did try disconnecting the router, connected directly with the modem and did a complete un/reinstall - with no change whatsoever. All I did was lose all the awesome starting-over scrrenshots I had taken </cry>

Yup, but only in certain zones. When it happened in Thickets, I ran through and zoned into Aydeewa Subterrane. Almost died in the process, lol. After zoning my R was A-OK. Hubby had same issues, tried the running and died. Got him back to Aht Urghan though^^. I have found that I can't zone into these areas at all: The Boyhada Tree, Bhauflau(sp) Thickets, and Windurst Walls. So as of right now, I'm sitting in The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah, logged out and will give it a bit before attempting zones. Hubby did a dumb thing and used a Runic Portal to get to Caedarva Mire. He's stuck at the Staging Point now, lol. So death is not an option, neither is zoning out.
I'm just going to wait it out. Trying to just stay off the game entirely, becuase DCing over and over again drives me insane. I've reset the modem, and the router. If worse comes to worse, I suppose one of us will be camping out on the phone with POL. Our connection is fine, the computer has no issues, and I have no in-game issues as long as I don't try to go in the areas I mentioned before.

South Sandy is the place where I get the R-0 also! I try to run as fast as I can to zone into North sandy and the screen goes black... ffxi-4001 error lol When I log back in though I was in North Sandoria:D with everything fine. I just cant seem to go into south sandy at all. I dont know whats messed up with south sandy but im starting to think its something that isnt on my side but the games. I havent really looked to see the other areas that are messed up for me but I know I can go into west ron and latheine plateau with no problem. I hear from another player this morning about how the cloister of flames and another cloister place ( cant remember name ) is also messed up. Lets hope this problem is fixed fast:D
