My main's professions are Tailoring and Enchanting. These two professions were kind of hard (for me) to make money with in the lower skill levels. But, I think if any profession complements Tailoring it would be Enchanting since you can always disenchant stuff you make and use/sell the extra mats if you do not anticipate being able to sell your crafted items. I seem to notice more demand for enchanting mats than tailored goods at similar skill levels.
Tailoring, by itself, I never sold much beyond making bags for people, and anymore the mats by themselves seem to sell for more than the finished product. Although I must admit that I have sold quite a few sets of
Black Mageweave Leggings because people like how they look.
Personally I feel it is a profession that doesn't have many economic benefits for the player unless the player invests the needed time/effort to skill up, much like enchanting. I feel that gathering professions are generally a better way to make money at the lower levels than any of the crafting professions simply because many people are intent on pursuing world and dungeon drops as opposed to committing resources to buy crafted items as they level up. Conversely many players will buy more raw materials as they are leveling up (in my experience) to skill up their own professions.
