FigurePrints Announces Price Increase

FigurePrints, a company that creates custom miniatures of your WoW characters, has announced an upcoming price increase. The new $129.95 is about a 30% increase over the previous $100 price point. Still, not too bad for a piece of art.

FigurePrints is committed to bringing you the highest quality product possible at the lowest price. One of the things we have learned over the last six months is that our material costs are much higher than we had anticipated. To address this and enable our artists to maintain our high standards we will be increasing our price to $129.95 starting with the July drawing.

Good luck getting one. I first applied to get one done back in January. Every month since then I get an email telling me I missed out this time. :p
Demo? not so much

FigurePrints may have gotten my money if I was permitted to upload my character for the demo as opposed to using preset models. Doesn't mean it's a bad product, I'm not trying to knock them. I just think that seeing your own character rendered would make the demo more meaningful as you have some idea as to the accuracy, for lack of a better term. From the sounds of the presentation though, $130 seems worth it for a serious collector. A model of "you" under a glass dome - full of win.

I think that perhaps they are worried about the ammount of traffic and work that thier servers would have to deal with if uploading was allowed.
A good compromise in my mind would be a downloadable app that could show you your toon.
