The developers behind Atlantica Online continue their weekly series on the playable mercenaries in thier free-to-play MMO. Don't miss this one!

The developers at Ndoors, the creators of Atlantica Online, have once again provided the ZAM staff with a fairly in-depth dev journal on one of their game's playable mercenaries, the Prophet. Besides being quite striking, this Elven lass packs quite the punch with her bow as well. She's a perfect complement to any melee-based front line, so if you're a fan of Atlantica Online, or just want to get a glimpse of the gameplay in the MMO, make sure you keep on reading!

This week, we’d like to talk about the next C-grade mercenary, the Prophet. At level 70, players may start the Prophet Recruitment Quest through Prophet Hecuba near Bagdad.

She is a ranged Mercenary that attacks opponents from a distance. The Prophet has a low HP and high Action Power. They are strong mercenaries who weaken the attack power of enemy melee mercenaries with magic and raise the Attack Power and Vitality of ally melee mercenaries. Even though they can only target a single foe at a time, they have a very high attack power.

Prophet is a useful mercenary in both PvP and PvE. At higher levels, her passive Concentrate skill can both shore up some of the weaknesses of melee mercenaries while restoring a substantial amount of health, so if your formation is melee-based, she can make you very hard to kill.   A row of spearmen under the Shaman’s Brutal Will or Oracle’s Seth’s Will spell is made all the more deadly by Concentrate.  Because she has so many skills, it’s wise to choose one or two spells to focus on increasing. For instance, most sword-wielding mercenaries aren’t particularly dangerous as melee attackers, so Shattered Sword may not be as valuable as, say, Broken Spear.

The debuff spells of the Prophet all reduce attack power specifically, so it’s only useful against enemies who focus on physical attacks. Her magic mainly restrict enemies’ effectiveness during battle. Shattered Sword reduces the effectiveness of enemies' swords. Also, Rusty Axe, Broken Spear and Sundered Power Saw reduce the effectiveness of the enemies' respective weapon. By using Concentrate, the Prophet's presence increase ally melee mercenaries' attack power and accuracy, and recovers their health on every turn.

And of course, as a bow-user, Prophets are a welcome addition to sniping formations, as she can help reinforce the front line even while contributing to your ability to deal damage anywhere in the enemy formation.
