Fortune League Brings EverQuest II to Facebook

Sony Online Entertainment and Fastpoint Games have teamed up to launch Fortune League, a new strategy Facebook game based on EverQuest II. Players can use the live trading market to purchase a party of heroes and take on weekly quests for a chance to earn in-game rewards in EQII and EQII Extended.

So why make an EverQuest II Facebook game? According to Kelly Perdew, CEO of Fastpoint Games, "Fortune League aims to provide existing players with a fun, new way of engaging with the depth and adventure of EQII, in short, snackable sessions, while also introducing new players and creating a new revenue source for the franchise."

If you'd like to try out the alpha version of Fortune League, head over to http://apps.facebook.com/fortuneleague/. Details on the in-game rewards and a short "how to play" guide can be found after the jump.

When you hover over Leaders & Prizes in the app, there's a choice like "view my trophies". This part will bring up something about needing to link to your station account, and you can do it there.

My only word of caution is that it also links your Station Cash balance, but you don't have to spend a cent of it to play the app if you don't want to. Even if you accidentally click on something that would detract from your balance it brings up a confirmation screen first, so you can cancel out at that point if you don't wish to purchase (I think it's extra trades you can get).

It looks like their first quest starts on the 9th. I made a league and got some heroes but otherwise have no idea what in the world to do yet! Smiley: grin

LOL @ Cyliena. I've been wondering what it's all about and I checked for messages here to see what people's thoughts thus far. I certainly wouldn't mind winning some xp/aa potions/scrolls.

Has anyone taken the plunge and actually tried out the game, i.e. it's mechanics, "fun level," etc?

I have it linked up and I picked my party the other day then the quest auto-started on Sunday. At this point it doesn't seem that there's really much interaction. I figure I'll at least pay attention to it this week to see what happens. Smiley: nod

I only get the option to create a new station account. Bah. I'll poke around on it some more I guess.
