Gauntlet and Stronghold Crusader 2 Released

Miss "the old days" of gaming? These two new titles will hit the spot.

Modern sequels to classic games are understandably vogue. Take a series with good fundamentals and mechanics, give it a visual overhaul, expand gameplay, and suddenly you've got a market-tested game with name recognition.

Today we see the rise of two previously-dormant series: Gauntlet and Stronghold.

Gauntlet is a 2014 version of the 1987 NES game based on the 1985 arcade game. Development is spearheaded by Arrowhead Game Studios (Magicka). If you've got a few friends and a craving for simple dungeon-crawling, Gauntlet is here and looking fresh.

Stronghold Crusader 2 is the 2014 sequel to the 2002 Stronghold Crusader, a follow-up to the 2001 original Stronghold. Reviews of the new Firefly Studios title have been decent (80), but may have too many bugs in its current state. Still, a happy day for RTS fans.
