After looking at all the information concerning Jerg Oakenfist, I came up with one area that no one has posted.
Jaggedpine Forest is on a spawn table. This is what I have learned and saw.and helpful tips that may get Jerg to spawn.

Tip: You need a tracker
Tip: You need an 80 or higher that can agro and keep the trents at bay while the tracker is picking up new treant as they spawn.
Tip: Have root and heals up. KEI or better is helpful as well.
Tip: Do not have any weapons that may damage the treants. You want to keep them alive.
Tip: I have seen that some treants are timed and de-spawn. So snag them.
Tip The more treants you accumulate the better your odds of spawning Jerg Oakenfist

I camped with three toons in the center middle road. The ranger picked up 3 treants that were already on the playing field.
I was able to have the other 2 were able to keep the treants alive.

As time passed more treants were spawning. I found that the ph for the treants were griffons and griffawns.
Also as time went by I killed bears, grey pinewolf, and black panthers. Or any of the mobs can be converted
to a treant once you kill it, or it may turn into another mob.

I had accumulated 8 treats however I was 9 on track. Also the more treants that you have they spawn close to where
you camp.

If the information is correct concerning that treants spawn Jerg Oakenfist then this would be the way to go.
if one of the treants is the PH for Jerg Oakenfist. You have to find it.Jerg Oakenfist
if spawning Jerg Oakenfist is a 1%er out of any of the treants, then the more treants you accumulate the better your
odds in spawning Jerg Oakenfist.

But if Jerg Oakenfist spawns during a time of day. Then this is another issue.

I hope this helps.

My source was an exchange of PMs I had with dev-niente, verifying the encounter tables for a great kodiak, an ancient treant, StormClaw, and Jerg Oakenfist. Seems there are two specific PHs for these 4 mobs,

Any chance you remember the names of the 2 specific place holders? That way i can just kill those 2 types and hopefully get these 4 named that i need among others for the hunter achievement. It would probably help other people as well to see that information.

Faction hits:

[Tue May 29 03:15:27 2018] Your faction standing with Treants of Jaggedpine has been adjusted by -250.
[Tue May 29 03:15:27 2018] Your faction standing with Residents of Jaggedpine has been adjusted by -125.
[Tue May 29 03:15:27 2018] You have slain Jerg Oakenfist!

Note this is about 15 minutes after a 50% faction bonus period ended on the server, so the faction hits should be the raw normal unmodified faction hits.

The Infamous "Named" Spawns
# May 22 2005 at 4:59 AM Rating: Default
Not much to offer but I've lived in JP for about 20 lvls lol. Iv'e made a ton o pp selling

plant shoots and Griffon meat, watched the village get overrun by the Darkpaw orcs many

times, watched lvl 65+'s come in for their quest npc fight, in other words many many MANY

hours. In all that time (stretching from Oct-Nov 04, a three month break then half Mar-April

05) And NEVER saw any named, heard of any named, or was asked about any named. Then in ONE

night in late April 05, I hit track and saw: Fiercewind, Jarg Oakenfist, and the Golden

Talon ALL UP AT THE SAME TIME! Needless to say I dropped them all as this may have been a

once in an EQ experience lol. I got the Fiercewind, Oakenfist gloves, and Griffon Wing

Cloak. So it is possible but these must be super rare spawns. Alla has very little usefull

info on any of the items, (no pricing on any) most a year or two old (or older) So if anyone

knows anything please post. Ive /ooc'ed many times for info and a PC but got no answers of

any use. Just FYI all three were db to my 59 Rng. Talon and Fiercewind easy fear kites. Jarg

was a real stinker, a casteing druid, can be slowed (better be) and was very tough. Kept

rooting and tossing out a couple other goodies. I had kei and HoV so was able to nuke shoot

and melee to finish. Well...I've got three uber rare pieces of junk or ???kpp lol. Have a

good one and stay alive.

Anyone know this guy's spawn rate or how to spawn him? I am trying to finish the request from the Oracle in the Gnoll caves.

Okay, this is one of my oddest EQ experiences. I'm an adorable little halfling druid with good JPF faction. Jerg wandered across me yesterday and apparently decided to adopt me. He basically just followed me around as I was fear-kiting Timber Griffons. He didn't interfere, he didn't help, he didn't attack, he just kept standing nearby watching. This went on for a good half hour. I'm almost convinced that some GM had taken control of him and was just using him to watch as I wandered and fought - who knows? I took a couple of pix and submitted them, as, no offense to Al, who admits that his pic is lousy, I thought a good one would be nice - hopefully it will be posted.

No offense taken whatsoever, dmperlman. Thanks indeed for ridding this site of my awful pic, rather 8-). Yours is much nicer.

My experience with Jerg

All right, I'm the one responsible for the above piccy, and I agree it's a lousy one because of the UI parts you see in it. Oh well. It was the first time I ever saw Jerg in a very, VERY long time exping in Jaggedpine, so I just kinda hit the screenshot button out of pure habit. Jerg is the large tree in the middle of the picture, btw. Anyway,

I zoned into Jagged one day as usual and saw this dark blue name on my track (level 58 druid at the time). Thought to myself, hmmm, never seen that name before, let's have a looksee. Tracked this giant treant down. Charmed an lb griffon, buffed it to the hilt and sent it towards Jerg. Realized rather quickly that Jerg was a druid. Had no KEI, so I went OOM with Jerg at about 50% health, despite my newfangled Tunare's Renewal. Abandoned my poor griff and zoned to safety.

A couple of days later, Jerg was still up and my brother (58 ranger) was in the zone, so we agreed to give it a try. We buffed up, (I even summoned my Booboo), and went in for the kill.

Fight was pretty easy. Jerg did cast some druid dots/dds, but nothing I couldn't easily heal up. Jerg did not summon. My brother more or less just made a huge pincushion of him, while I threw a few dots his way, my pet gnawing relentlessly on his behind.

For us, he dropped Oakenfist Gloves

AC: +11 Str: +10 Mana: +30
BL Necro Ench Mag Wiz Rng Shm Dru Clr/all
Lore/Magic

I would estimate about 10k hitpoints (very roughly).

Faction hits were "Residents of Jaggedpine" (the NPCs in the village) and "Treants of Jaggedpine". I was max ally to the residents before the kill, and was still ally after the kill. I was indifferent to the treants before the kill (never killed any treants before), but became DUBIOUS after the kill. So, beware the faction hit with the treants if you're close to kos beforehand.
