Renamed from "a rabid chokidai" to "a rabid chokidai biter" since there are now 3 different nameds since last patch : biter, bleeder, ripper. This one spawned near zone in and dropped Jagged Bone Hoop. He was level 60. Also, he was incorrectly tagged as an animal.

dropped a crappy earring near zone in - farther in past the bridge (from inside castle) he dropped chokodaii boots ... and farther in to the right of the room to Korucust near an NPC and a zone out he spawned there and dropped Signet of War - I'm ganna solo in other spots of zone and see if I can find the mask of forgotton or the beads

also near zone in one time I looted the other earring on his drop table which was like see invis or something - but I'm thinking he has rares in different spots and at zone in spot rare is earring and at castle entrance rare is necklace

Well I have setup camp back inside the castle, at dead end past the first bridge where left you will see the quest mob and right I run through 3 doors and come to a bridge. Off the sides of the bridge is where I setup camp.

Having the live side that I just came through on my right, the undead side is on my left. I have cleared all of the undead side and the first hallway of live mobs and the two in the room beside the first quest mob for 25 or 30 clearings.

11 Rabid Chokidai , 11 boots (geez!)
6 Armorers , 4 Bonespur Mantles, 2 Bracers
3 Weaponsmiths , 3 Bracers
2 Krizznot Bonewalkers, 2 Rock Molded Wristguard
2 Valinion Viz'Daron , 2 Shai Din Assassins Belt
1 Brodisek Ashkansek , 1 Ring of Walking Dead.

Someone needs to fix the /Ran generator. Obviously its stuck to drop the sucky loot each time.

All of this was withing 2 weeks max timeframe.

I am going to try and move deeper past the 1st quest mob into those open areas to see if I cant get better drop rates.

I have yet to see the Sarnak Champion.

The same thing is true in most luclin zones, and has been for a year or more. All the mobs that spawn randomly will drop only their common loot, never their rares. I asked about the phenomenon at the fanfaire and the developers had no clue.

I wonder if it's possible to clue them in.

Actually I was told the loot of Rabid Chokidai at least is based on its spawn point. If you spawn him in one area of the zone he will 99% of the time, drop the same item, but if you kill him in a different part of zone, he drops something else. Not sure if its true of other mobs in Cdokb also or not.
On Rabids...

Seems there are 3 distinct areas that seperate the level of the rabids & the loot tables. At the zone-in area (left & right) and past the golem bridge to the similar area are the lowest level ones, dropping the Jagged Bone Hoop as common; Shai Din hoop as rare.

The two just outside the castle entrance golems & the little courtyard there are mid-level yet not a whole lot tougher; dropping chardok boots as common, spiritmaster beads as rare.

Through 1/2 the castle is another courtyard area, these are the toughest by a significant margin yet also rarer. Common is the signet of war; rare is the gleamscale cape.

This is my understanding after aprox 300hrs fighting here.

Again, these seem to be classed as undead: I can cast the Necro undead-only slow spell on them without getting the 'this spell only works on the undead' message. That said, the only one I've tried attacking (spawn by the zone-in) resisted slow three times in a row and I ended up FD-ing with 3% health left.

Shame they put a hard-to-slow, summoning mob as a random spawn at what would otherwise be a decent XP spot for a 61+ Necro.

Yeah, it was doable as a 65 Necro with only the 61 pet and no 65 spells. Resisted slow three times and mitigated it the fourth time but the 64 pet heal kept ***** alive while the DoTs and pet wore it down.

Ended up with about 20% mana and a pet on about 20% health with enrage gone, though. Not an easy fight.

Rabids drop table depends on what the normal chokidai ph is. Vicious spawn rabids that drop earrings one is listed on loot table and another one better then silver hammer. The one better then silver hammer is rare. Found near zone in area and across the bridge.

Ferocious drop chokidai hide boots and spiritmasters war beads. Beads are the rare. Found outside the castle steps and near the ressurectionist room 1.

Savage drop signet of war and gleamscale cloak. Cloak is rare. They can be found at upper zone out near one of the quest skellys.

To get to the Rabids that drop this lovely necklace (Spiritmaster Warbeads) you turn right at the room right before Baelin's room (instead of turning left into Baelin's room) and work your way thru a good sized room and to a 'stone suspension bridge' with a door at the far end. Past the door is a large cave with more undead spawns, kill them all to spawn rabids, the necklace is the rare (I'm making an assumption here since we were exploring and kept moving after clearing the area once). Not sure what the common drop in this area is since we didn't stay long enough to get more rabid spawns. We've taken to calling this area the Kennel even though skellies spawn here too. Note: the pathing is slightly fubared here and pulls will sometimes go for a swim before climbing up onto the bridge to engage the tanks.

CONFIRMED: The common drop off of the Rabids in this kennel area is the:

Chokadai Hide Boots
Magic Lore Slot Feet AC 8
+15 STA +40 HPs -10 DR +10PR (yes that's neg 10 DR)
Recommended level of 55
Wt. 2.0 Size Medium
Class WAR CLR PAL RNG SHD DRU MNK BRD ROG SHM BST
Race All

Note: It's possible that the ghosts from the reincarnator room path all the way to this bridge as we got a few ghosts while here.

Edit: Updated common drop information in this location.

To reach the Rabids that drop the rings and cloaks you take the first right past Baelin's room (quest skelly NPC) and work your way along the main path (you don't need to kill the guards in Korocust's room unless you really want to (they enrage)) eventually you'll head up a ramp to a room with two doors. The door on your left leads to the ramparts and another quest skelly, kill the stuff there and go down the stairs. There are two critters there one on each side of the chamber so it's a good pulling spot. NOTE: There is a trap mob on the ramp leading up to this area and another trap mob on the right side (looking into the chamber from the ramparts) about halfway between the center and the right mob. Past this chamber is a Y shaped cavern with a number of spawns there, they can be various skellies and chodakai, some of them are two close together to single pull w/o FD or Pacification. Note: the same is true of the two spawns in the pull chamber once we got a rabid spawn on one of them (fortunately my Virtue refresh landed just before it spawned on me, whew).

Also from this area you can watch the door thru which the ghosts that spawn in the reincarnator room wander thru (from the back of the chamber it'll be on the far left as you look towards the ramparts). We pulled all the named ghosts and got their stuff too. Best to have two tanks for this so one can go chase and tag the named ghost while the group finishes off the current hapless victim.

Note: the right side of the pull chamber (looking towards the ramparts) is close enough to Korocust's chamber for you to get hit by one is his AEs if you're up against the wall. I wasn't paying attention and my pet got nailed and it went after Korokust, sadly the raid doing him wiped, my pet was killed and I was summoned and squished like a red grape by a goblinform Korocust, the enchanter got summoned and splatted as well. Kudos to Spellfire for giving us rezes, even though they didn't warn the zone they were attacking him. His big DoT AE goes thru the walls and has quite a range. On a previous raid we were camping the castle zone out and we got hit by his AE like 3 times, thank Marr for Etherial Elixir.

Note: the lefthand branch of the Y cavern (looking into it) has a zone out door on the left wall, so if you get in trouble or need to CoH a buddy in, someone can zone out to invite him.

If you take the righthand tunnel from the zone in and cross the bridge you enter a good sized cave and this is the area where the Rabids drop the Jagged Bone Hoop earring as common, the drop here is Hoop of the Shai'Din. Seems all of he undead spawns share spawns and can respawn as any type of skelly, ghost or undead chodakai. The loot seems to depend on the type of non rabid chokadai spawns in the area. The area past the golem bridge has Vicious Chokadais, the kennel area has Ferocious Chokadais, and the bank zone out area has Savage Chokadais.

The live chodakai don't seem to drop anything.

Edit: Updated information, confirmed location of Chokadai Hide Boots as common drop in kennel area.

Killed about 9 times for 7 rings 2 cloaks, killed them in a pit and were all even to 63, every once in awhile a rabid would pop in another place that was dark blue on track.. maybe that is the one with the hoop
RE: Dropped
# Jul 24 2003 at 1:15 PM Rating: Decent
Could you describe where the pit was? Maybe a loc?

I have hunted the rabids for over a week now. Killed about 60 of them. I got about 6 of the nice Sha'Din Hoop earrings (+7 int +7 wis, mana, hp). 5 of the Chokidai Hide Boots. 1 of the FT2 neck pieces, and lotsa the 40 mana 40 hp rings (most rotted).

I have yet to see a single cloak as mentioned, or to see them drop a spell. Also all of them conn dk blue to my lvl 65 and dk blue to my lvl 62 chars...so not sure where you were and I think I have hunted all areas in the zone now.
RE: Dropped
# Jul 29 2003 at 6:22 PM Rating: Decent
Aye. from the list of drops youve listed i can tell where youve been hunting. and my guess is you either havent gone into the castle or you exited it again across the narrow bridge when you did. what you have to do to get to the cloak dropping rabid dogs, is head to the room with the south door leading to the sanctuary, it can get pretty rough there so have either a well honed group or a massivly overpowered one =) leave to the west and take the next door south ya can. youll open to a balcony that looks almost identical to the one next to the sarnak ressurectionists, except the door that would lead to them instead leads deeper to brodi's prowling grounds. the cave in front of the balcony has several dogs, the rabids that these can spawn drop a nice ring (not lore *grin*) and the improved healing cloak as rare.. although it seems far more rare than the ft necklace and the good earring. 13 hours yesterday a guildy spent trying to get one for his cleric with no luck.. lotsa rings though *bigger grin* so good luck
oh.. and anyone wanna buy a ring?
