HQ is worth 288 gp each ^^.
Regular (NQ smoked salmon sub) is worth 278 gp each.
I'm pretty sure max gp you can get for this is 2400.

Since they're a +1 12-stack food, the duration's 90 minutes, rather than 60 (which is good).

On Alexander, singles are selling for 3-4k apiece.

Here's the breakdown on things, though, based on Alexander's Jeuno AH prices as of RIGHT NOW (it's out of stock on everything, though :->):

* Mustard - 1k/stack;
* Vinegar - 2k/stack;
* Cabbage - 2k/stack (wtf?);
* Tomatoes - 2k/stack;
* Black bread - 500/stack;
** Smoked salmon - no consistent history, so I broke it down as well;
* Cheval salmon - 1.5k/stack;
* Rock salt - 1.5k/stack;
* Walnut logs - 1k apiece;
* Crystals - didn't bother checking, I have enough. 5k/stack or so for fire, 1-1.5k/stack for earth.

Smoked salmon is 4/synth, so one stack of synths (4 stacks of smoked salmon) will run 48k (53k with crystals). This will produce 4 stacks of subs, which requires an additional 7.5k of materials (8.5-9k with crystals) per stack, for an additional 30k (34-36k), making a total cost of 78k (87-89k) for four stacks.

This translates to a per-stack cost of 19.5k (~22k w/crystals).

Here's the fun part:

Nobody has EVER sold a stack of these in the Jeuno AH.

I think I'll put up a stack for 40k if I pull off a full stack. (I only have enough stuff to make two stacks' worth of synths based on the bread I have on hand, and my cooking's at 32.1, so I think one full stack is probably my realistic limit on this.) It'd be nice to be the only line showing in the price history. :-)

Quote:
The durations for food can be:

* 3 Minutes - Snack Food items give effects with a 3 minute duration, for the Normal Quality crafted versions. These Snack Foods all stack to 99.
* 5 Minutes - The High Quality version of Snack Food which stacks to 99 have effects that last for 5 minutes. All effects from raw food are also 5 minutes in length, including those from raw fish, meat, and vegetables.
* 30 Minutes - Normal Quality crafted food that stacks to 12 have effects that last for 30 minutes. The majority of the food in the game is of this type.
* 60 Minutes - High Quality crafted food that stacks to 12 have effects that last for 60 minutes.
* 3 Hours - All non-stackable crafted Normal Quality food have effects that last for 180 minutes, or 3 hours.
* 4 Hours - All non-stackable crafted High Quality food have effects that last for 240 minutes, or 4 hours.

strange prices

I noticed the prices at the beginning of January. This is for Windurst AH on Cerberus. 1k for a normal sub single, 5k a stack, and about 1,200 for an ilm-long. I put a stack of normals on auction for 10k and got it. That started a trend of everybody making these things and buying out all the ingredients from the guild shop and AH. In just a couple days there was no more black bread, and I had to go all the way to San d'Oria for more. The next stack went for 13k, then the third for 15k. Then people stopped buying stacks. I've seen at least three other people fail to sell them as a stack, and I put another stack up for 12k and failed to get it. The weirdness ends with this next part. The normal subs are up to 2k per single now, and the ilm-longs are still 1,200. And you can't blame it all on people taking their rank exam either. The same people keep buying two or three subs at a time.

About the name. From context, I would assume that an ilm is approximately similar to a foot, and a malm is probably somewhere around a mile.

This is what we call a Guild Point Item. Since it is rank one cooking it has greater chances of being the requested item by the guild for all cooking rank levels (depending on day) It is also the HQ version of the test item for level 8-10 cooking cap. Most higher level cooks will be happy to spend there gil to save time than to farm together ingredients and do cooking themselves(and travel but travel is mandatory to determine GP item for the day anyhow). This (or rather its NQ version)is a good thing for low level cooks trying to skill up since it makes the lower end cooking profitable if they time it right, since GP request cause high demand, that is usually greater than kopopo stocks. Remember you to can get paid off laziness, since the items for GP vary from rank and day you have better luck parking mule there with a variety of food items and/or leftovers. But the GP request is the reason why many items change in price. The next day those items will fall in price as cooks sell there leftovers at cheaper or more resonable costs.

"ilm" sounds like measurements in Van'adiel, you know, like "foot-long".

weight system in Van'adiel : ponzes (try clamming)
Guild Test
# Aug 01 2004 at 9:10 PM Rating: Decent
I can confirm that the Guild will not accept the Ilm-long Sub for the test. I painstakingly bought the items, including having to run to my rent-a-mog to make space in my inventory, synthed a sub (first one I'd ever made), tried to hand it in, and was totally puzzled when they wouldn't take it. Then I figured out that I'd gotten a HQ synth.

You would think they would take a HQ sub as proof of cooking skill, hehe. But not.

Yes it does give you guild points. I HQed a bunch of them the other day and turned it all in...

edit: Are you sure the mithra standing outside of cooking guild asked for Salmon sub? You only receive guild points for the item (and its HQ version) she asks for.

Does anyone else notice that "malm" isn't a real word? :P

And what's "Ilm" about. Does it mean 11 meters?

Seems to be like it'd be great DRK food, what with the INT and DEX bonuses. The AGI, VIT, and extra HP can't hurt much either.

Yeah, I noticed that one a couple other items too. In Alchemy, flasks of Deodorizer sell for 800 each, in Bastok, or 2000 for a stack. (Obviously, not many stacks are sold ^^)

I'm the one who synthed this bad boy and submitted it. When I did, there weren't any applicable entries in the Windurst AH (Caitsith), so I didn't know what to do with it except eat it. ;)

Normal subs on Caitsith go for 1,000 singly and 3,500 a stack, so I'd expect to see 1,500-2,000 per single Ilm-long.

They ARE a pain in the butt to make. Only reason why I was making subs at the time was for the cooking guild points...

That'd be a good item for a Nin though, with the dex and agi bonuses, plus the vit for when we do get hit.

What's it going for?

Not bad. Almost like wearing another RK belt. These are annoying to make though and mithkabobs are probably still better.
