I know charisma does not affect Enmity, and as for Provoke, I'll leave that up to the philosophers (Or whoever has time to figure it out ><). What I have heard though, is that different stats affect different Job Abilities, Job Traits, and Weapon Skills, one such set that I believe is affected by Charisma, is the "Killer" Traits, I have heard this from several sources, and it would make sense to me. Also this set gives the "Beast Killer" trait, wouldn't it make sense for the same set of Armor to boost that trait.

Also, I don't think the +Chr on this armor is why people wear it, but who knows, maybe Charisma has a hidden effect that gives a random bonus that SE put in the game just to mess with their players.

Charisma does in fact affect some of a Paladin's weapon skills. Shining and Seraph Blade I know of for sure. I had a Dark Knight in one of my parties dual weilding swords (don't ask me why). His Seraph Blade (or Shining if they don't get Seraph) was hitting for roughly 20 damage every time. I know for a fact that Paladin's hit a LOT harder than that even in an exp party without any attack equipment at all and we're talking about a drk.

Try the voking thing with 2 Paladin's. If you have a Taru Paladin voke and fight the mob for a few seconds then have a Galkan Paladin voke chances are its going to go for the Galka. HATE IS NOT A STATIC NUMBER. Every second that goes by your hate drops. That's why a good Pld doesn't go all out on getting hate right off at the beginning of the fight.

So if everyone agrees that CHR does nothing for a PLD, why do they put it in for this item? Are they advocating PLD/BST as a job or something?

Charm has been stated by Square as to NOT affect hate.

It does affect BST charm, and BRD songs, and Square has said it affects certain WSs (Don't ask me)>

The charm on this really doesn't make much sense to me, unless it's the PLD WS that are affected by it?

However, if your getting a Full Kaiser set (First off, good luck) you'd probably be best off in investing in +enmity gear to compensate, or just not using the full set (use a piece or two)

Trust me, it does. Go Provoke something as a Monk(Low CHR score), toss a chi blast or hit it. Then have the PLD Provoke. It will go for the Paladin.

SE developers themselves have said that CHR does not effect provoke. It effects Killer effects, BST charm, and Brd songs and thats it. By your thinking, Brd could pull hate with provoke. Not very likely.

CHR affects area of affect abilitys, Killer effects, and Charm. Thus a PLD with high CHR makes a skeleton run like a *****. It also effects the potency of Rampart, Warcry, and other AOE ablitys. Giving extra def/attk(to their respective abilities).

Umm, CHR is Charisma, not Charm...Two totally different things. Charm is a beastmaster ability, and Charisma is the primary attribute for bards, and used with charming monsters with bst...

Can you seriously hold hate if you're just a huge punching bag? With all this armor, you will not hit nor deal damage, but you'll have tons of life and vitality... I guess a paladin would just provoke and then heal... why bother attacking?

Tell me about it.... m(__)m
One thing about CHR... IT ISN'T CHARM.
IT IS CHARISMA.

Definition of Charisma: A rare personal quality attributed to leaders who arouse fervent popular devotion and enthusiasm. (www.dictionary.com)

That said, listen closely now, charisma affects every action you preform, for BRDs its songs, for BSTs its charm, for Paladins its EVERYTHING we do. So you might hit once out of every 10 swings, and you when you do, you may hit for 0-3 points, but your provokes, sentinels, shield bashes, ramparts, etc. will be more 'potent' so to speak. This does not mean that CHR nessicarily makes Provokes 'stronger'. Rather CHR makes the character more motivated and excited about everything, so when the character does something, it is more likely to be more 'influential'.
CHR also seems to make double attack kick in more frequently but I can't prove that.

Now further, I really really want this armor for tanking HNMs, Gods, and some of the dynamis mobs, but I will not use this armor in a party. I honestly don't think this armor was intended for partying, that's what the valor set of AF is for (or Adaman set, whichever you have/prefer).

Anyways I hope this clears a few things up.

The additional charisma helps to hold hate, plus, later in levels, unless the PLD sacrafices his ability to take hits, he's not going to hit nearly as hard as, say, a DRK, anyways....between provoke and Cure IV, etc, he shouldn't have too much problem holding hate (also, having a good THF always helps with hate management)

As stated before, go test it out, take a pld in full af, and a war in full af. War will have more enimity bonuses. Go try. Let the war build up as much hate as he wants. Then let the pld voke and watch the mob go to the pld every time. Could this be because the pld has a great deal more Cha???????

Ummm... From what I understand between 'voke, Cure IV and all the fun Pally skills like Sentinel, Flash, etc. you'll be generating lots of hate. The +11 vit helps you take less damage (I think, don't hate me if I'm wrong) which allows you to keep your hate longer. And last time I checked, Paladins aren't sitting there getting the stuffing knocked out of them to deal damage. They're standing there tanking away so things that deal better damage faster can do their thing without getting killed.

With a full kaiser it does seem like a PLD's STR and DEX would be around 20. That's low. However his VIT would break 100, that's high. Assuming CHR helps getting hate from voke and flash, he *might* be allright to hold hate.

Yeah, just messing around with allakhazam's character profiles, I put in Elvaan lvl 75 Pld/war with full Kaiser gear and others...VIT was 173 while my dex was a whopping 34. ;)
