Just solod as 75 BST/WHM. Dropped 3 Cloths Woohoo! 300K.

Took one placeholder kill to pop NM and then NM fight was about 1 hour. Fairly difficult fight. Used a couple of CCs and Zetas when in trouble. CHR+50 so only had one or two mischarms (one on a bat and one on a Mousse). Gaudy Harness for Refresh. Presidential Hairpin for extra regen. If not for Blood of the Vampyr kupopower I'm not sure I could have done this fight. I can see this being much easier and very lucrative duo BST.

After failing twice, I have finally managed to take this Ghost NM down as SMN75/WHM37! First of all, a little clarification on the spawn time and spawn area.

There are two "Gespenst" monsters @ J-10 surrounded by four aggroable hounds. These two ghosts are the placeholders with 16 minute respawn. Usually when I come here, it only takes a few kills to get it to spawn. However, since I have failed killing it twice, I've noticed that it will despawn after 2-3 minutes of being dormant and the spawn timer resets. >.< I have come to the conclusion that the spawn time is 4-6 hours, since it took 5 hours to respawn the third time (first time I just left when it despawned).

Now, if you manage to get it to spawn, take heed that it's black magic is very powerful and since it's a ghost, it is resistant to most kinds of physical attacks. As a SMN, the strategy I used was as follows:

I would use carby to claim it, and I would slowly work my way into a less-aggroable area since pretty much all passages are crawling with aggroable Slimes or Ghosts. Be careful not to do any casting near it, as the hate is very fragile and it may end up coming after you before Carby dies. It did this to me many times, and I have Yinyang Robe!

Once I trecked the looooong distance to a place where mobs would no longer aggro me, I started using Fenrir + Yagudo Drinks to slowly chip away it's HP. Be sure to keep Blink and Stoneskin up at all times as he can very quickly destroy you otherwise!

Eventually, I ran out of MP, so I proceeded to choose the avatar in accordance to the current day and I 2-houred and hit it with Astral Flow. This usally did around 1,200 damage for me. Then, I would wait for MP to recharge for a second blast, and that would usually finish it off. While I managed to win, it was very hard and I don't plan to do it again. >.<

I'd say I got lucky, if anything. It's spells usually 1-shot Fenrir which leaves me unready to use another BP to get hate back on the avatar so I end up running for a while until I could summon again. When I won I wasn't targeted with any -ga which I think is why I won. I barely had any time to buff at all, so I had to rely on a bit of luck.

Well, that's all folks, I wish you guys good luck hunting this fun and not-so-notorious NM. ^^

Oh, and only 1 cloth dropped for me. But I heard more than 1 can drop at a time!

Has anyone camped it and knows how often it spawns? Also, is it a placeholder of other ghosts in the area? Thanks.

K a bit of information on this NM. This nm is surrounded by EP Hounds and EP Mousses at 75. There are bats in the area, but are non-agro (unless you rest for MP without sneak).

We hunted him in the hallway. We took out the mouse and pulled the PH's. There are 2 Ghoust PH's in the room.

As for the NM itself, pretty easy for a thf/nin and a whm/blm. Nothing too hard. Silencing is tough, but doable but it wont last long. He likes to cast level 4 and lvl 3 -ga spells. He can also Terrorize you, which means your frozen for a few seconds. Got 36 XP and 9000 gil from it. I also mugged him for 3K.

Succes!

Duo-ed this yesterday with a Nin/Thf... It was hard but by no means impossible... just make sure you don't get links. =P
'Windyfeather falls to the ground.'

Seems 3 lvl 75s can take this out, but with difficulty considering as they ran to avoid the links (1 undead dog and 2 skeles) they had "Windyfeather (lv75JP BLM) falls to the ground" appear on the screen. The PT was her, a THF, and a RDM, all three lvl 75.

Tarutaru death can be so funny.... she's running and all of a sudden *GASP* *falls over face first* Maybe I'm just sadistic like that >_>
Hmm.
