Not only was it a holiday weekend, I am on vacation as well!
So lots of great things were planned.
In a fit of pique at having to eat full exp losses at 58, a few days ago I decided to start a serious cleric. I'd started one a while ago, but she was more of a trade skill mule than any serious attempt at a cleric (she is a gnome after all).
So Aesten, High Elf cleric was created. Initially not twinked, it is totally unnecessary for the first few levels, just killed rats in front of the Cleric Guild with the newbie club to begin with. Then aunty Celeni gave him a Centi Warhammer and took him out to meet some Orcs, as they travelled through GF they noticed that the baby basilisks gave supertremendous experience. So didn't really bother too much about the orginal plan of collecting Orc's belts and shoulder pads, just hung around a spot that had plenty of basilisks and tree thingies and in a flash had reached level 9. (Other than the hammer he was still quite naked.)
By this time they had collected a few belts as a result of passing Orcs, so though it would make sense to go hand them in while they could still do the most good. Stopped in at Felwithe to buy some spells and at this point aunty Celeni decided he was worth spending a few PP on and sent her sister Aeleni off to the bazaar to see what cheapie goodies could be found.
We were all full of excitment as Aesten is the first plate wearer in the family and we were eagerly waiting to see what marvelous AC items we could find for him. Well, the first thing we check out are breastplates of course, what do we find? An AC 30 chain tunic being sold for 1200 PP??
So Aesten gets decked out in a few good pieces of equipment that will last him untill his 40's (took this approach as the intention was to rapidly PL him) including the chain tunic
, Acrylia legs, Full Mithril helm and a few items from the family treasure chest, including a Lozdial Shell Shield for reasons which will become obvious shortly.
They set off for Kaladim and on the way stop to see how Peg Leg and his buddies are doing, well it turned out that they were a source of amazing experience so after handing in the belts in Kaladim they went back to the bandits and rapidly moved from 9 to 14.
At this point they decided to go test out a theory about Dagnor's Cauldron. At first they set up on the shore line not far from the NPC camp, there is a spot where several aqua goblins and various snakes path by. And yes the theory was proving correct the experience was superb. Within a very short space of time Aesten was 16 and they moved out onto the island to a spot just below the Dwarven stone marker and set about killing aqua goblins in earnest. Aesten rapidly made 20 in spite of being killed twice by that pain in the *** Dwigus.
At this point they moved into Unrest, some may think we could have moved to Unrest a bit earlier, as the yard trash was green by this stage, however the experience from the Tidal Lords and Bosuns was still very strong all the way to 20.
We, umm, they set up at the back of the building and began pulling the ground floor, when they turned blue moved to the second floor and then finally pulled the top floor untill Aesten hit 29.
After a quck trip back to Kaladim to update some spells, they went back to Dagnor's and went into Kedge Keep, the second part of my great theory and the reason for the Lozdial shield.
They set up at the entrance and began pulling Lancer Swordfish, the experience was astranomical! Within a couple of hours Aesten was 34 and ready to be set loose on the world.
Hehe, level 34 Cleric 1h blunt, offense, defense, dodge all maxed (swimming 136, lol). But, alteration, abjuration, channelling all in the 30's. The rest I wont even mention and meditate had not even been trained.
However by this time Aesten had a couple of hundred unused training points so they headed back to the cleric guild and dumped suitable numbers of training points into the key skills and then spent a day practicising casting various things to get rid of as many fizzles as possible.
Once alt, abj and evoc were all above 100 and alt specialisation was above 50 (and superior heal had stopped fizzling) he turned on LFG, whoohoo.
Well he is now 37, all dome in LDoN adventures, the amazing part of the whole story is that I will log on both Aesten and Celeni, turn LFG on for both and inevitably they will both get an invite within minutes, Celeni has actually made a level (now 59) doing LDoN.
Poor old Iluien, it is his worst nightmare come true.
