This problem with the skills button on the Character's Information window not being accessible - has been going on for weeks. One problem that causes - updating Magelo accounts for one. You can't go to the trainer window to view your Offensive/Defensive skill number because they don't show up since training points cant be applied to them! Just wonder how much longer this will remain broken? Not much fun either to have to go to trainer more often than necessary. Any Sony people out there who can answer, I hope?
~PS - Decided to try the Def/Off of 5 X 31 + 5 formula, and then used the AC/ATK adjustment section in Magelo to get my AC/ATK right -- that worked :)

Just copy your skillwindow settings in your char file from a character where they are in the right place to you new char.

A little more information can be found on Usenet here and here. What is happening is the width, height, and x-y position of the skills window is being set to zero. This happened to all my characters too, and I don't know if this was due to a bug in the patch or something else, because I also recently changed my resolution to 1280x960.
In any case, be careful, because someone found out that putting in an illegal value for the width of the skills window caused his UI files to be deleted and replaced, including the file that had all of his hotbuttons and spell lists. So he had to redo all of those. Just make backups of all files that have your character's names in them before you modify any of your UI files in case EQ doesn't like what you did and replaces everything with the default files.

Thank you Kaolian - I went to that link you posted. Unfortunately, I don't have the computer savvy to figure out how to find those UI files and sort how to fix it. So, unless Sony does it for me in a patch, guess I'm stuck with it :(

I created my character in December (got the game for Christmas) and I cannot access my skills from the inventory screen either. I also am not capable of doing the tech stuff to save UI files etc. I hope they fix this problem soon. I cannot use my tracking skill due to this problem.

"/loadskin default" should reset all your UI window settings

I will try the /loadskin default tonight. However, even on my abilities buttons the only thing showing is bind wound. I should be showing tracking, forage, inspect etc. So I can't even use these skills right now. Will this fix that problem too?

Right-Clicking on the empty buttons in the Actions window should still bring up a pick list.

Ok I tried the /loadskin default, it did not work.
As well when I right click on the actions button the only skill to appear is my bind wound. I am a druid and I know I have more than that.
Can someone please help this stinks not being able to track and forage.

Assuming you used a normal installation and are useing windows follow the following directory tree.
C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest
in the everquest folder you will find some files that look like the following folder. please note that swiftkiller is the name of my character, where swiftkiller is just substitute for the name of the char you are looking for.(note there will be other folder with you char name you want the one that is (UI charname servername.ini)
UI Swiftkiller karana.ini
once you get into the folder scroll down till you come to the folling. See those first four 0's change them all to 300 and that should get the skills window back where you can see it then you can resize it as you normally would in game.

i had this problem all i did to fix it was during login there is an advanced button in there ( i forget exactly what it said) there is a button to check all files or update all files or something like that i prtessed it it took a few minutes then when i logged in all was good

Skill windows NOT displaying are due to there being NO value on the windows third coordinate on each of the four positions (X, Y, Width, Height).
The missing value is displayed in the UI_CharacterName_ServerName.ini as a ZERO (0). This value MUST be replaced with a valid value in order to make the widow display.
Using the following values will create a small window for all display sizes

NOTE: The missing values in the above fix are (SHOULD BE) the value of the users CURRENT display settings, note there can be multiple entries if the user has ran multiple display settings since the installation of EQ.

NOTE !!!
These changes need to be done offline or the program (EQ) will attempt to go back to its current window display settings. Meaning the window still wont show for the customer after they made the changes to the UI file.
