I too have noticed this, although a bit less than in the past.
I started playing EQ shortly after Velious, and quit before Luclin. My WORST problems were KSing druids, and whiney rangers (Hence my basic premise that all bullies play druids, and every 6 year old wants to be robin hood and picks a ranger NOTE I'm not insinuating that all druids KS and all rangers beg, just in a year of playing EQ EVERY TIME I WAS KSed it was a Druid....with some variation of the name Drizzt generally. Anyone remember a time when you could heal someones mob? Yup these slimey white wolfs did that too.
Anyway lately I've run into a few good examples of bad play:
I play a warrior. He's a level 60. Not that high.....but it got a bit boring so I started an enchanter, a druid, a monk, a cleric, a necro, a shaman, and a rogue.
With the exception of the rogue I leveled all to 40. Meaning I took 6 characters through the dreaded PC, HHK zones known for in my opinion poor play.
1: While in PC Single players (Wielding Fungis That darn Miraguls orb----I was exstatic when they...can't exactly say nerf....raised the level for the proc----, and generally at LEAST 31% haste items) would take entire bandit camps, and went those went dry this ogre would train dozens of fungal fiends(away from/through the few peeps who camped them, despite there complaints).
2: Additionally I once went to Kurns and was informed by a 65 druid, a 65 cleric, and a 4 bard that they had the ENTIRE ZONE camped. They threatened petitions, etc. Regardless of who you are, I don't believe PLing your friends should preclude the use of an entire zone.....especially one that's lvl 10-20.
3: While in HHK I was in an entirely caster group. We were in desperate need of a tank. A ranger showed up, actually 2 levels higher. I called him down. Our enchanter inspected him and said NO, he's too poorly equipped. He was wearing some named armor, the rest studded leather. There was a time (granted years ago) when this equipment was hardly poor. I'm also a fan of grouping with peeps, rather than leaving them lfg, especially at low levels. Anyway I quickly camped....somewhat disgusted.
3: Tonight in fact I was in a group with an enchanter, who even in my opinion played poorly. I gave him advice, a shaman alt from an uber guild berated him endlessly.
----In the end. Whether you like it or not, Newbs & poor players also pay SOE. Just because we've been in Norrath for years doesn't mean we should trample them. If players continue to berate those who's skills or not up to snuff, or trample newbs, they won't play. And once the new accounts dry up, and the old ones move on, the world of Norrath will as well. This may be a bit premature, but how many GM's are on these days? When does EQ2 come out?
