I have a linksys router with 3 computers ( 3 accounts ) hooked up with DSL modem.
Anyway I have been having the probelm of crashing to server select and or login screen almost eveytime I zone and its been an on going probelm for like 4 months now.
Now I upgraded the firmware and for 24 hours or so EQ worked perfectly and I thought I had fixed the problem but then bang right back to where it was before the upgrade.
Ok so I crash and stuff for a week or so then I redo the upgrade ( same upgrade ) and it works ok for awhile and then bang back to this problem again.
Its not the computers or my connection but it seems to be a probelm in the router I guess ? Should I go out and buy a diff brand router ? Or can this be fixed somehow ?

how did you upgrade the firmware on your router? I have a linksys wireless B router and i didnt even know I could.

I used Linksys for about four years and went through two routers (BEFSR11s) . The first one started acting up, delays, packet losses and disconnects roughly once an hour. Updating the firmware didn't help. I bought a second one and the problems went away. Last winter I started experiencing similar problems again so I flashed the unit. After flashing it simply wouldn't respond at all. Not even pings.
Thinking that a new router every two years is pretty excessive, I dropped Linksys and bought an SMC router (SMR7004VBR). Connection quality problems again disappeared.
Last month my brother said his connection was acting up. He had a three year old Linksys - he switched to SMC as well and again, problems disappeared.
Your mileage may vary but, I'm thinking that the Linksys models just don't last very long.

maybe i'll give it a try. i have connection issues...and this router is only about a month old...been having issues since day 1 with it.

Have a linksys router with 2 comps, 1 wireless. Had initial problems with connectivity due to IP's amd such. We called Linksys and they walked us through resetting the DNS servers and IPs. We haven't had the problem since. BTW, the router is about 1 yr old. My family has the same setup as you 3 comps, 1 router with no problems at all.
Recommendation, if not already tried, call Linksys and ask them about the problem. You may jsut have conflicting hardware somewhere.....prior to spending another 75.00 for a new router when it may not be necessary.
