Yound Guild needs ideas on where to go to pratice raidingFollow
Our guild is smallish, but trying to grow.. ( on Povar) Here is a list of most of our 46+ main characters..
Paladin 61
Enchanter 60
Cleric 58
Paladin 57
Ranger 55
Cleric 53
Paladin 53
Mage 52
Warrior 51
Wizard 50
Shaman 46
There are 2-3 more that do not play regulary, and we have some friends in other guilds who could join us.. But where are some good places this size group could go to learn some basic raiding skills?.. ( btw I am the level 53 pally :) )...
How many more, and what classes would allow this group to do raids such as.. Phinny in KK, or the bad dude in KC or Velks.. ( I am fairly new [ started plaing EQ in October] so speak with a wealth of ignorance as to other raiding targets we might try)

You've got a couple tanks, a couple slowers and a couple clerics. If everyone is new to the raiding game, an excellent place to start is Kael. Depending on how your people are geared, they may get some upgrades via Thurg armor or eventually get the faction to try Halls of Testing for Skyshrine. Of course, if they're already mostly geared past that, they might find it kind of pointless, but for the levels and classes you mention, I think Kael arena is as good a start as any.
You could do Phinny with what you have, once everyone's learned how to listen to raid orders. Could possibly do Venril Sathir as well. I'd hold off on Velk for now.

Kael is a good idea. It's a pretty smooth place to raid compared to todays standards.
Two good mobs to practice on are Spirit of Radir and Spirit of Tawro in Umbral Planes. They aren't too hard but the break in can be a little more challenging. I suggest using Harmony of Nature liberally. They only hit for about 350 and they are easy to slow and cripple. They do drop some nice weapons I am sure would be a good upgrade for probably all your members.
Also try Lord Dojo in Velks Lab. He flurries, a lot, but very fun to play with and practice tanking on.
And if you are into KC then try VSR, I am sure the ranger would appreciate it.

Kael, Sebillis (could possibly kill trak and definitely do juggs and reets etc). You can make many spell drops in Sebillis.
When Shards of Chaos was still recovering in numbers (2 group raids) the slime event in CC was raided. Could be for you too and has some nice upbrades that sometimes drop like the 100hp bracer :)

Also, Veksar has potential for a mini 2 group raid for equipment drops alone. (assuming what your current equipment is) This sounds a little poor maybe but if you camp the golem courtyard you can camp the named golem (drops a nice robe), and the undead tower (for soulscream belt, 31% haste and the decent(ish) chain bp from the blacksmith).
Plane of Nightmare mini boss mobs. The crocodile and the shady fellow. All doable with a small force, maybe 2 or 3 groups.
Maybe beyond you right now but you can think of trying mobs like Rumblecrush in the umbral plains soon.
In griegs end in the Servitor of Luclin. Easy to kill with 2 or so groups (and summon from his locked room with sneaky pet moves
)

Two group raiding can be quite painful if you are not careful, or well experienced.
It is easy to get out of your depth by fighting into a place that swarms you, then leaveing you with a troublesome corpse recovery.
But, if your team can master it, you will have great fun. Two groups are way easier to marshal and manage for the leaders, and everyone gets to (is obliged to) contribute in a significant way.
Jophiel's suggestion of Kael is a good one. I would also suggest Sebilis and The Hole. They all have raid level mobs that still drop usefull items, and offer stiff, but not impossible logistical and tactical challenges.

this will also give the nukers a chance to learn when NOT to nuke as every undead mob in veksar will summon.
with 2 clerics you can have 1 on heals, the other on undead DD/DoTs to let them up their evac skills.

Juggs is indeed a great way to get everyone their mid 50-60 spells as the drop rate on spells from Juggs and Reets is pretty insane. Of course, you'll only get Kunark era spells from them, but it can still flesh out some spellbooks.
Only issue is corpse recovery. I didn't see a necro in that mix and, while you can invis through much of Kael and perhaps lull the remaining giants, you're going to have a devil of a time getting corpses out of Juggs/Reets. then again, given your number of characters and mix of classes, if you all wipe in Juggs maybe you deserved it
Free Sebilis Raiding Hint: Shrooms don't see invis. Fighting them is often a pain in the *** and as long as someone knows the way, it's easier to just invis, stay close and bypass them.

You might want to work your way up to CT.
The low 50's people would have a very hard time of it.

For this sort of serious raiding, you would miss the services of a Rogue or two and a Monk or two. If you were to wipe, (very likely) you would be needing to hire the services of a Necro. It would get quite expensive.

Okay I'm the 50 WIZ and what did Singdall mean exactly by nukers learning when not to nuke because every undead will summon? Do things only summon if they get nuked? If I can learn not to nuke by somebody telling me rather than by making a mistake and getting everyone killed I'd appreciate it. Can I stun with my Markar's Clash and similar stun spells instead of nuke?
He didn't mean that every undead will summon at the same time or anything, just that all the undead is of sufficent level to summon on an individual basis.
Mobs will begin summoning when they get to 98(?) percent. Maybe a touch lower. So you can stun, dispell, slow or whatever a mob and it won't summon (though it'll obviously aggro) but once it gets below the magic number it'll start summoning happily. You want to stay low enough on the aggro list that the mob doesn't decide to summon you since the mobs hit hard and you don't want to be taking melee damage from a lvl 55 mob. It's doubtful you'd wipe the raid over it, but you might annoy the cleric by your sixth rez

Just as a heads up Veksar undead start summoning at 47. It is very annoying to tank when you keep being moved inside your target.

Don't be put off by that btw. You will hear people say a target is "one groupable" in a disparaging way when you set out to raid it. That is a problem with what SoE have done to game balance and does not prevent you having a blast raiding it with your levels.
Kael Arena for example can be held clear by a couple of 65's but would still make a good target for your 2 groups and gives lots of useful faction to boot.
Chardok would also be a good target to start getting used to. I assume those clerics will want epics one day and certainly if you are serious about raiding the cleric epic is the single biggest time-saver there is. Whether you could get to royals with your two groups rather depends on how good they are and how well you work together. Obviously you'd need a friendly rogue to come along on that one. And like Seb you would need to pay a necro if it went pear-shaped.
PoSky is also a good raid zone to play with. It can be a trifle annoying but I'm sure your ranger would be grateful

simple all of the undead mobs and several of the live mobs in Veksar will summon. this means if you **** it off and are out of its reach it will summon you.
casters that nuke to soon, or to often will find themself sitting in the middle of the mob they just nuked.
veksar for just that reason is a great place to teach casters NOT to nuke to hard or to soon. if they do, they will get pounded and pounded hard. veksar mobs all double (undead im talking not those goblins at entrance) and some will quad in the 150-400 range. a lot of the undead will also HT up to 900 points. most ppl will get a partial resist and drop that down between 250-750, but a full unresisted HT from them will be 900 points. big ouch for casters without cleric/sham buffs.
a lot of things in veksar are groupable, but no reason NOT to make it a learning experiance and turn them into raids.
the Ferrel lord is a good 1 group, or even partial group. heck 1SK, 1nec, 1cleric can hold that camp if they know what they are doing and dont have to be 65th to do so.
with the lack of experiance it seems this guild has that guy would be perfect to learn how to deal with adds, how to pull, how to deal with mobs that summon, etc. all great leasons that will serve you well in bigger raid zones like the hole, chardok, planes (hate,fear, etc). also a nice place to learn how to crawl.
you need both INV and invU to get to the ferrel lord or deeper in so helps teach what to do with those drop. a few deaths on the way in from ppl learning to stand ground and DIE so the rest of the guild is not killed is always a hard leason to swallow, but must be learned sooner rather then later.
last 3 trips ive had to Fear have all ended back because some jacknut did not learn that leason yet, and killed either the full raid party or at least 90% of them as they trained a large amount of mob on the raid instead of dieing and waiting on a rez.
better 1 person to die, then everyone and have to deal with that many more CRs. 1 consent and 1 rez vs. 14+. you tell me what is better? learn to ******* die and do not train the rest of the raid party.
veksar can teach you this in a place that is not really that hard to do a CR vs someplace like Fear or CT were CR can be horridly long and painful.
droga is prolly a good place to learn to raid too, lotsa nice drops and easy to 2 grp, good to learn how to dungeon crawl and lotsa named mobs thats are fairly easy.

Droga is off of Frontier Mts. I'm not sure what mines are off of Warslik's Woods other than the gobbie mines in LoIO you pass through to get there. Only other dungeon off of WW is Dalnir's.
