hands down there IS a best duo. You can't argue against a Shaman / Shadow knight. Lets not even discuss the duo with merc benefit. There are many combinations that "work", but if you want the most powerful, the most versitile duo, go with this one. I got my girlfriend hooked on EQ a while back and I played the SK, she was the SHM. We were taking down epic weapon raids before there were mercs, while some 24 man raids were still wiping. It's everything you need in a group. Tank..check. Healer...check. Snares....check. Slows...check Puller....check. DPS....check. Buffs...check. Debuffs...check. With the right AA combo, the SK can keep himself alive against single mobs no problem. The shaman can focus more on DoT's. BTW they have 2nd best DoT's in the game after necros. And don't worry about stealing agro from an SK. They are with out a doubt the best agro holders in the game. Ask anyone. A paladin would work, but you lack snare for mobs that run at low hps. Not to mention FD splitting those hard hitting mobs. Accidently pulled 2? The shamans VP aa with root and knock back will fix that. With the shamans canibalize ability and the SK's target hp to group mana spell chains, you have very little down time. But don't take my word for it. Try all the other combinations yourself. Then when you're ready to put your big boy pants on, make a Shadow Knight.
