So, this is more of an Alla question than EQ, but wasn't sure where it fit in the best. Anyhow, what is the "Auto Profile Updater" option on this site and how does it work? In your responses, please be advised that I am most definitely NOT a technically edjucated individual....Thanks !
If you are a premium member (which you are) you can use the auto profile updater to grab your everquest character information and instantly turn it into a allakhazam character profile.
To use, download and install the program. Then start the program. Fill in the information it asks for in the options screens, then start everquest. Assuming you filled it in right, as soon as you zone, it should upload an Allakhazam profile for your character. Spiffy no?

Okay, so I tried this last night and it didn't work. I have a couple questions though...
1. Does your character have to be added onto Alla's first as a "shell"?
2. I tried this on one of my characters, Brayzn is on Morden Rasp, (I have not tried with Rhaiyne yet, as it was very late and I didn't want to have to log back on after I had already quit) After I added her onto Alla's, I searched for MR as a server, but did not see it. Am I blind, or is it really not there?

This is the way I've gotten it to work:
Before you start the EQ patcher get the item collector program up and running. Once you patch and log onto your character in everquest, switch to window mode and change to the item collector program. Once you've switched to the item collector, click on file in the options across the top, then click on profiles. This brings you to the profile manager page. You should see a list of your characters. Click on the character you're currently on. You should see on the right of the window a full profile of items for that character. Then click the upload button at the bottom and that will upload the data for that character to the alla server.
I THINK you need to have the character created in your profile for it to upload your character data correctly, but I'm not positive about that. I just went ahead and created all my characters in my profile, better safe than sorry.

You do not have to have a shell to start this off. Matter of fact, I would suggest you don't. I had a few characters created before this service was available. First time I synchronized it, it created a duplicate character. I had to delete my original character to keep one sync'ed.

Did you do the upload option when you finished?.
It dosent automatically update your character here, I guess in case you upload a naked corpse :).
Also when you've done the upload option..(In Files, click on your character then upload)also do the export option gives you a real nice file with ALL your equipment and bank slots and everything included (in the collector directory) which clicks straight though to Lucy and Alla.

This comment is for those folks who are considering signing up for the premium membership.
When you update your profile, there is a tool, called the wishlist, which suggests equipment upgrades for your toon.
You can use the wishlist to plan your gear upgrades for each slot. (I.e. face, arms, waist, etc.) The wishlist tool saved me tens of thousands of plat over the last 3 months.

Okay, so I've come to realize that I should NEVER take a job in the IT world. I SUCK !!!! Still can't get this to work. I think I just need to get the chain of events in the correct order. Here's what I did last night (if I can remember it all)...
I started the Item Collector, then started the EQ patch. I'm not sure what I need to do after that. When I'm in the Item Collector, I don't see any of my characters in there (probably since I wasn't in EQ at the time). I don't know how to go from EQ back to the Item Collector once I'm logged into EQ. I could play around, but since I start playing EQ so late at night, I REALLY don't want to do anything to accidentally mess up EQ. Heaven forbid I don't get to play EQ !! I think I'd faint...

If I understand correctly, I think this is what you're lookin for...
Alt-Enter = Puts EQ in a window
Shift-Alt-R = Gives you a windows cursor to minimize EQ and switch to the other program

Thanks Blacktharne, that should help. But um...how do I switch it back to the way it was so that I can play EQ again? Will hitting the same things again put it back the way it was? Again, I apologize for my ignorance

Thanks again for all the help !If you click on the minimized EQ tab in your taskbar it will pop up in full window mode again, just hit Alt-Enter and EQ will go to full screen again...
I tried this and when I come to point where I'm ready to upload my information to allah, I get a box that says "You've chosen to upload a profile, but a session cookie for allakhazam.com was not found. Do you want to log in now?"...
I click yes, but that just tries to open Internet Explorer, which doesn't work on my computer, I am logged in and currently on my profile at Allah, but via Netscape...I'm guessing the "cookie" that it needs is set up to be retrieved from IExplorer, but like I say IE, doesn't work on my pc (Long story, I've spent many hours on the phone trying to fix it, mostly talking to people in India and such, come to the conclusion that I'd have to rewrite my drive to get it to work, not gonna do that, and besides everthing else works fine, just IE)...
So, is there a way to get around this and upload my characters?

I've tried this many,many times and different ways mentioned here, I have more then 1 character but can never get more then one profile on profile list. I assume this can be be done but how. any help appreciated.
uh yeah, I just gave up. I just can't figure it out, despite all of the excellent instructions in this thread. Guess I'm just meant to play and not get any more ambitious than that

ok thanks...but now that I got EQ Item Collector how do I get it to work correctly. its not showing my profile when I log into EQ 1 so that I can use the auto update feature

I when I look at the item collector....its not loading my profile for my character and when I check the collect I get this "invalid item (1919902547) detected, ignoring." what can I do to fix this....I think this is causing my profile not to show when I click file then profiles
