Anti-guildFollow

#1 Sep 27 2004 at 11:01 AM Rating: Default
I am now refusing to join anymore guilds with any of my toons, I'm going anti guild now. So I applied for aude sapere on morden rasp, got the message saying an officer will contact you in the future, i get a mail message on there website saying they are shutting down the membership app. My character is lvl 6 now and they seem to have more toons under that lvl, what the *** is the deal? ***** them all!! Only guild worth being in is forsaken outcasts and norrath's reborn rage on quellious.

Did they say "Congratz, you've been accepted and an officer will contact you in the future" or was it just "an officer will contact you in the future"? If it was the latter, then they didn't say you were accepted. They're just saying that they'll let you know if you're accepted or not. As far as the lower level toons, many guilds will allow alts of current members immediate acceptance into the guild. This has the benefit of allowing the guild to have tabs on all its members, even when playing alts, if an impromptu raid is called. They may have also been grandfathered. It's no reason to get bent out of shape really. You'll see later on that you can get denied acceptance by a guild before you even put in an application, because you don't have the right level/AA's/flags or they just don't need/want any more of your class. There's a guild on Povar (last I checked, this may have changed recently) that doesn't accept Halfling druids. Period. They also don't accept any female toons. It's not really a big deal. Just app somewhere else, and when you're "uber" you can brag to them and challenge them to duels and stuff (if they even remember you apped Smiley: grin )

Well if you must know, our standard approach is to have the officers actually READ the applications. Our main officer (guild leader) was out of contact on personal buisiness so we thought it wise to wait. You unfortunately pestered the membership so much, the officers were not at all impressed. I mean come on, you post an application and 3 hours later you are asking for the officers to tag you?

Yes, it is unfortunate but inevitable that we have to close down our recruitment for re-evaluation. And you are a prime example of why.

If you're complaining about not getting a tag in 3 hours.....you have a very long and difficult life ahead of you. fyi, the guild I'm in is rather stringent on who gets temp/probationary tagged and even more stringent on who gets a full membership tag. There's also a guild on Saryrn that has been known to take over a month for a temp tag and an additional three months for a full tag.

And you're here complaining about 3 hours? Sheesh!

Obviously the thing to do is for everyone here to app Forsaken Outcasts and Norrath's Reborn Rage over on Quellious. They must have a drive through or something where you fill out an application and the guild fairy baps you on the head with her wand and tags you.

HAHA, I didn't know it only took 3 hours to get your app turned down. That's gotta be a record. To add to what Tweelist was saying, many higher end guilds won't allow you to get any loot while you're on probation either, unless it's rotting. Some won't let you loot it even then. You've got a long hard road ahead for you if you can't have a LITTLE patience. I just got my probationary membership to a new guild, after having an app in for over 4 days, and they NEEDED bards...

Even better if they can also juggle or do balloon animals...

No, he applied last Thursday. He started asking for officers soon after and all weekend. He did not get the official word until today, 'coincidentally' the day the GL gets back. As for the low-level characters in Guild. Most of the active ones are alts. Some of the others are people who started with us months ago and have not returned for one reason or another leaving low-level characters on the roster. Most of the active players are > level 25 and it is quite possible a level restriction for recruits WILL be in place in the near future.

Oh and posting '***' to a public board doesn't help your chances DOOD.

Little did you know that, the level 1 cleric you were talking to that night in the tutorial was actually an officer. We like to monitor our applicant's activities during the application process, and pestering for an officer mere hours after you turn in an application is just not practical.

Not only that, but we do our own version of a background check when people apply, and looking at your posting history, the officers were none too impressed.

Of course, I'm sure that there are plenty of other guilds on Morden Rasp that will be more than happy to accept you.

/sigh I miss Blurred. Even if it was "wait me one minute -no mana" atleast we had almost a C3 NPC.

It was surreal the day when somebody bought that account and was by the nexus stone on a horse casting free C. Of course also discussing that they had just bought the account in /ooc chat. I had held out some hope that it was just a crazy guy sitting there all day, casting c for donations.

It was kind of like finding out there's not a guy inside the ATM.

You do need to learn patience. And realize that your actions speak more, for who you are, than anything else you do in EQ.

My guild recently went to a level 60 requirement, just to be considered. However, because of grouping with several members, for many xp groups, my app was considered a few levels early.

I'm still a trial member, but it took 3 days to get a response to my app. And in those 3 days, I had invites from 2 other guilds. I politely told them I had already submitted an app, but if things didn't work out, we would talk.

From that last conversation, I have a standing invite to another up-and-coming guild on Xev.

So learn some patience, and be the best person you can be, and you will find that getting guilded can be quite a simple thing.

And as far as Aude Sapere changing their app process...A guild is an ever-evolving entity. There are so many guilds starting/ending, that the ones who stay 'in business' get inundated with applications. It is easy for them to get too big to control. So it only makes sense to change the application process to let them better control their membership.

And while it sounds like you were on the cusp of one of those changes, you still might have had success had you not pursued the course you did. You might have been 'the last low-level recruit' before new level restrictions were put in place.

As it is, you can be assured Aude Sapere will not be interested in you no matter what level you reach...

Threadjack; purely from the point of view of someone who has absolutley no experience with any kind of third-party program, programming language, or even Everquest at all (That's the story I'm sticking with, damn you) you could rather easily make a [blank] bot to automate C3/Ports/Temp-Virt/HoS/whatever and make it in such a way so that it wouldn't be immedietly obvious, especially if you were monitoring tells (and it needn't be monitored in the EQ window, either- you can do it from work, for instance, with a simple Telenet window).

Still, it's a bit of a risk, although if you make it properly it's a very, very, very minor one.

Back to the main topic; man, you're a complete idiot.

Blurred was obviously a bot, he would sit in the same spot by the nexus stone (southeast corner facing south) casting all brands of C, 90% of the day. So much so that when he wasn't there, people had created alts in effigy to the missing blurred (one time I think there at least 6 or 7 female erudite enchanters sitting at his empty spot).
"open trade window for invite" is a great clue it's a bot, not always, but it's a good clue.

I just held out hope it was some war vet sitting in a dingy basement with 1000 crumpled up cigerette packs lying around him and a statue of some lost love made out of whiskey bottles.

I actually had conversations with Blurred on a few occasions. I think he was originally a bot but he was, toward the end of his KEI career, manned by 5-10 Asians that spoke very little English.
