How to succeed during WarFollow

Please post your strategies on "How to succeed during the War".

I have participated in both GFay and Rathe Mountains, thus far, and this is what I have learned:

If you are a soloist, the easiest way to obtain a rare drop is to pull a named to the opposing army. It appears that the player who inflicts the most damage to the named, (while the other army is bashing him) will receive xp and loot rights.

Inflicting at least one point of damage will also give you a faction hit. You can also earn faction by turning in weapons, etc. to your home town "war recruiter" or by doing a task that the "war recruiter" offers, (currently, these tasks are not offered in some home cities).

I imagine some guilds have also had some success getting together a raid force to farm for drops. It is paramount to learn where the nameds first spawn, and to also make sure that you do not raise the ire of the entire army when going head to head.

Ninja looting is another method that seems to be employed during the chaos of these events. Many pullers get killed, and if you are in the right place at the right time, you may get to loot a corpse. I am not sure if "ninja looting" is a valid label during this war, due to the madness that ensues while 2 npc armies engage one another. I have seen up to 4 different players clicking away at a corpse hoping to win the lottery.

Some questions:

- When do colonels, generals and tacticans, (along with the likes of Warlord Mish) become targettable during these events?

- What role does amiable faction have vs indifferent?

- Has a winner been declared in the Rathe War?

All in all, I have been disappointed in this live event. But, like some of you, I, too, am glued to serverwide.war for the next juicy tidbit that may lead to a nice item.

Oh, and by the way, the only loot that I have scored, thus far, are xp potions and illusions, (go figure).

Just to ad my imput:

The named will leave a corpse rotting even if no PC is around or ever hit it. Thus you can loot an item after timer runs down to open loot time, with out it being "ninja looting." This can happen often enough with the chaos in the war.

Rangers have a great advantage here in that they can inflict alot of damage from range and get the XP and loot rights if mulitple people are hitting the same named in middle of battle.

seems I ready somewhere that folks have to supply weps and **** to the war suppliers in order to "trigger" some of the events.

i read that too over on eqlive's website but all the GM's i've talked to on my server says that it's a scripted war and if you think about it, if it's suppose to take us to eq2 story line then i thas to happen.. i mean drakelves just appear in freeport would be wierd, and how would that work on the pvp server? everyone would be fighting each other and not worrying about the war, so how would it all get triggered?

but yeah the armies are all set up i think it's a matter of time. and yes on our server people are turning stuff into thier war suppliers.

The official winner in Rathe are the dark elves. If that battle isn't running yet on your server then it won't ever according to the devs.
