I recently made a berserker alt and decided to visit some old worl zones once I hit 20. I have played on and off since the old days so I know my way around and such. Anyways is it just me, or can you see how much more work was put into older zones in eq1 compared to the new ones? I mean the placement of objects, the massive details on factions, etc. New expansions seems like everybody is either 1 of 2 factions (such as DON) sometimes everybody is the exact factinos. I mean in old world it looks at your race, religion, class when it does your faction as with newer expansions seems like your either liked or not liked.
Newer expansions just do not seem to have the same amount of time put into them. Seems like since Gates and above have come out they just throw a bunch of them together in a zone, stick there factino as being KOS to everybody and go from there.

Favorite old world experience and has not been replicated by any of the new world zones, being on a raid and navigating the ice bridges in Velks. Gave the physical world some sustenance rather than just being a place you do battle in. Would love to see some thought put into the environment as well as faction. And what is with all of the diety stuff they have been adding to the game? Wish there was a way to change from being agnostic to a religion. Sorry, don't want to thread jack this, but I fully agree with your statement, there needs to be more thought given to faction. Somehting that would be nice that should have been put in years ago is a chart of factions and what those factions currently view you as, the idea of conning everything is ridiculous, if you hate pixies and pixies hate you, you should know that without have to have one in view.

You would end up conning everything anyways. The pixie in LFay might be on different faction than one in GFay. Charts would be limited in their usefulness from how it is now.

I really liked the old zones. How about the average zone size now compared to the early expansions. I know there was alot of wasted space in some zones but I liked the big zones. Mob placement isn't very realistic now either. A lot of the fun for me has gone out of the game because of new zone designs.
Ever since Velious factions have changed race/deity ect change to basically Good/Evil race if starting faction had any effect at all. Back in Kurnark era all the Iksar players were ******** how hard it was to play an Iksar
I love this subject. I miss old world zones, Split paw Rathe Mountains... no one hunts them anymore. I liekd the all day runs and the looking for a good fight. The best was ******** up your faction with someone only to find out a few levels later you were now KOS in a zone you needed to do a turn in and having ot go slaughter somewhere else to fix it. God it was frustrating! Even though new zones have simple factions, this game still holds way more of that addictive magic than any other mmorpg. I would like to see a button tab for a faction standing though, alot easier to see how Im doing on rune of scale than chasing down a nasty dragon just to right click and run away.
