I have a simple question?
When are the Mages going to get a real upgrade like a summoned bow? Give the bow to the earth pet and have him root then plug away like the necro swarm of decay AA...

That would require an inteligent pet that knows to back up and shoot arrows at mob instead of hitting mob with a bow. then the next thing would to be able to tell you you take over melee I am out of arrows.
Its no problem, just let the mage tank it. Lol, have the pet smart enough to train mobs on to the mage, back off a bit, and toss a couple of cheap arrows at the mob. Not enough dps to take away agro, but enough to keep the mage busy.

Also have the pet cast some light heals the mage is going to need that
