What I'd Like to SeeFollow

I've been playing EQ for roughly 4 years now. Tried other MMO's as they came available and still found myself coming back to EQ. It is without a doubt the best, IMHO.

But what I would like to see, rather than tons of expansions in a year (with 5 accounts between hubby and me that gets really expensive), is more older zone upgrades. Lavastorm and Nek Forest look really awesome now, but it's a shock to zone from Nek to Neriak or EC.....I would rather see the zones brought more up to date graphics wise than another expansion.

I'll be getting this expansion, but due to the fact that I am not in an "uber" guild, I am still making my way through my Planar progression, DoN progression and have not acquired near enough OOW runes to round out my spell list....So, another expansion for me,yes adds more content, but I've already got tons of that I can choose from. I want a prettier world! I think SOE could do this slowly....Start working it's way around the world and upgrading the zones from oldest to newest until they all have the polished sheen of Lavastorm & Nek forest.

I played EQ2 and understand that they cannot do the same outstanding graphics in EQ1 because too many loyal players' systems wouldn't push it, but it does seem they can do something.

And How much would you be willing to pay for these zone upgrades, in Sony's eyes its all about the profit margin. Hence the purpose of turnning out a new expansion every 6 months. SoE knows EQ is on the downside can't say its dying yet but its not growing so Sony will milk it for everything they can get from it. Once the expansions stop comming out start to worry the writing will be on the wall.

Honestly, when I first heard of EQ2 and WoW hitting the shelves along with new games like Guild Wars, I was concerned for the future of EQ1. But I know a great many people who played those games and hated them, myself included. There are lot of people who initially left EQ1 to play EQ2 and WoW and Guild Wars, who are already returning to EQ1.

I don't think EQ is dead at all or heading that way. I think updating the graphics would only encourage more people to stay, as it provides a nicer gaming experience. If they were to bundle each "expansion" into a graphics upgrade pack (like Antonica, Faydwer, Kunark, Velious, etc), I would be willing to pay normal expansion pricing for each one. (since you asked)....and really, most things post-PoP don't need any upgrading....It's the older world zones I'm referring to.

I would like to see some mid level content. I've been a really lazy player over the years I've been playing since day one and have never gotten past 60. I'm sure most players have atlest one midlevel char thoy like to play. I love to make new chars and I gennerally take them to 40ish so I have no really high level chars to join in on the fun of the new expansions. It makes me sick seeing some of this uber gear that you can get. I'm moderatly equipped my most expensive item being the copper hammer of striking. I also would like to see some events. Something to get everyone to hang out and group together. Maybe I'm old school but that's what I'd like to see.
