Recently I downloaded everquest: escape to norrath, and I've been having a lot of fun. I had to turn the luclin models off for characters and some npcs (not monsters) because it ran slowly when the luclin models were on. It still takes about 5 minutes to load everything, like when I die or start up the game, so I was wondering if there was a way to turn the environment graphics so that they are pre-luclin also. My second question is if I can turn the environment graphics down, can I do that and keep the current monster graphics? Thanks in advance.

Log in, go to Options, and fiddle with the graphic settings there until you have something you can live with. Or get a Geforce 6600GT graphic card ;-)

or you could get 2-gforce 7800's and daisychain them together. That's what I'm doing. =)

Adjusting the Clip Plane might help as well.

I second that. In fact, I would try this first, and see how things go, then start adjusting from there.

The clip plane determines how far into the distance you can see. The less you can see, the less your computer has to render everytime you move, the better things perform. I adjusted this one setting, and was satisfied. Didn't have to mess with anything else.

yeah, clip plane is always the first thing.

however... lik you said you can no longer see far.
when i turned of the shader settings, i could still see far, and didn't notice much change at all.

that is the only ajustment i used to make, the clip plain, if i got a little laggy on raids, i would turn it down. well, when oow came out, i discovered lag, RSS i hated that zone, only zone in the game i got lag, mouse lag, mouse would get slugish. so i avoided RSS. now here comes DoD, undershore i was, but the zone off it to get to stoneroot made my cpu act just like RSS. thats when i started playing with more settings. the shaders fixed it.

i run 3.2 gihtz cpu with 2gig ram. can run 4 accounts of eq at once, yet RSS lagged me.. was weirdest thing.

might just look into another vid card, i have a radeon 9200 series, so that might be the problem, i don't know, was the card that came with the cpu.
