Wrong starting city. ***** SonyFollow

Hi guys. I just recently started a half-elf bard on Bertox server and set my starting city for Kelethin. I really dislike the human cities of Qeynos and Freeport, so i defaulted to the trees. Anyway, several hours after I finish the tutorial, I go to turn in my note to my guildleader in Kelethin.

It turns out I have a note for the bard's guild in Qeynos!! After doublechecking this bug by creating a new bard whos starting city is Kelethin, the same thing happens. He is a Qeynos bard as well.

I petitioned this and basically they tell me I'm screwed. I'm pissed, I hate the human cities, I don't know them. The GM told me that they can't reset a starting city. Righhhht. Can anyone recommend a course of action for me or am I stuck in a city I despise? I know being from Qeynos is almost unimportant at all, but it still bugs me.

Sony can go fornicate itself with an iron stick for all I care.

Thanks for reading.

Heh... umm... it's a starting city... chill out and deal with it? Or make a wood elf bard instead? Another one might be to try the /setstarcity command... i think the number for Kelethin is 97 or something like that... but dude... calm down

I know its not a huge deal and it won't matter much at all later on but this is just really annoying to me. I don't understand why it would be so difficult to change. I guess I'll deal with it but still disappointed on the customer support, again.

But what else is new.

I'll try that startcity command. Just needed to vent, I suppose.

Half Elves have never been able to start in Kelethin. The fact that it is a choice for starting city is a bug.

First, take a deep breath. Then, if your panties are still in a knot over this, reroll. You lose what? Two hours of play?

Whitman,
As I stated before, when I rerolled a new toon to test if this was my mistake, the same thing happened. I set the new bards starting city for Kelethin as well, but ended up in S. Qeynos. I guess I'll try again today. I do know that half-elf bards can begin in Kelethin though. I have made one or two of them before.

isn't the first turn in letter just for a pc of armor. not worth it. you can still use the GM's in the other city right if not then keep complaining. but if you can use the gm's then just play stay out of quyenos.

i have 3 accounts and the past 12 characters i start i played all of them through pok as long as you have faction you can play what ever city u want. quests arn't that worth doing at low lvls. and you may need to goto quyenos onces for lvl 17 LDON start quest, and mabe one more time at lvl 20 for armor cult quest.

I have a half elf rogue. He started in Kelethin. Funny thing, about 6 months ago I kept getting messages on login to set his starting city. After setting it to Kelethin about 3 or 4 times (yes they kept asking), the messages stopped. This tells me something was/is bugged in the whole procedure.

Go Home sends him to Kelethin, which is probably the ONLY reason you would care where is home city is. Half elves can quest newbie armors in all three cities so that should not be a concern.

That's right, turning in the note only gets you a tunic with 1AC or something like that. Just walk yourself over to another starting city and call it home. You can do the armor quests there. The only difference would be in using the 'return home' button, but you might be able to fix that with /setstartcity.

Thank you guys. Sorry for being a whiny brat about this. Are these the only times I should have to head over to Qeynos then? For LDoN and cultural quests?

Anymore you don't need to even bother with going to your home city, except of course for the LDON stone and cultural stuff. When I made a new necro I was kinda dissapointed that the New tutorial pretty much makes POK your starting city. Every tutorial task you do shows you how to go to the bank, buy spells, and train at your guldmaster in POK.

there is a map, there is a wonderful "find NPC" button. you can bacially close your eyes, just follow the golden path to the NPC you need to talk to. you don't need to "know" every city like the back of you hand to be able to find anything nowadays.

You dont even have to go to qeynos for LDON.
But I like qeynos as a starting city, you dont fall out of trees, you can easily skill up swimming, only two zones and with the map and find function its simple to get around.
Besides the game just isnt the same if you dont hear <BBBBBAAAARRRRRRKK> Fippy Darkpaw says "You humans have ruined your own lands...... :)

Yeah. It's a non-issue. The only thing that the starting city thing does is affect where you go when you use the "go home" button. If anything, the PoK book is *closer* in Qeynos then Kelethin, so that's not a real problem (when you get high enough level to actually "need" to use that button, you wont care about where you go except that you can get away from whatever dungeon you were stuck in).

The NPC factions work based on your race and your religion. They don't care what your starting city is. If you want to newbie in Kelethin, just take the books to Kelethin and go to town. Nothing's stopping you.
