Rangers prefer metal??Follow

I recently made a twink ranger to hide on. She isn't hitting the hot zones to level quickly but rather taking her time playing in areas I never made it to. One of the things I wanted was to try to keep all her weapon skills near cap as she leveled but I'm noticing that 1hs, 2hs and piercing cap out quickly while 1hb and 2hb move like molasses.

I never encountered this problem on any melee class I've played before and seem to be having a hard time finding a decent ranger website to poke around.

Do rangers have some sort of blunt weapon penalty? Are rangers just happier poking things than clubbing them? I do buff her out with temp and shammy buffs (she is after all a shameless twink).

Any suggestions?

Seems like your 1-handers would be the ones to cap first if you are dual weilding them.

She only just landed 17 and got duel wield last night...I was going to pick up another blunt and try dual wielding them for a bit but still find it strange that her blunt skills havent passed 40 yet while everything else is 85

My ranger 1hb has no problem being raised.
2hb takes a bit of course due to longer delay on weapon.

What 1hb is she using? If it's something slow like a centi, sneak her into ME and grab one of the Goranga Tribal Warhammer type fast blunts. There are also some decent 1hb training weapons around the bazaar - jade mace, mudman enforcer, blackjack, smoldering brand .. just get the delay down and the skillups will come.

do you have the vet rewards?

for at least a portion each day you can get PLed skill ups.

pop the vet aa that maxes all stats, you will be amazed at the skill-ups while it is on.

and when it isn't on, get some good shammy love to help.

There are no weapon type bonuses or penalties in Everquest.

As others have stated, weapon delay is what causes slow skill ups for 2h slash and 2h blunt. Get a Ketcha Koro Mis or Shovel from Chardok.

That would be it! Thanks brewnoe. She was using a Wintry Club[/li]. Been such a long time since I broke out a melee class and played it that i never even thought to check the delay. Just handed her something I had laying around in the bank.
Thanks all =) Time to go shopping!

If it's not too late, look for a Guard Captians Mallet. It's very fast, and you don't sacrifice any damage. Admitedly, they can be pricey, but I've found them for as little as 1k.

I was just looking at that one Glade...logged in my trader and FEH none for sale. I'm sure I'll come across one on the weekend.

I very rarely see a Guard Captain's Mallet for sale. In fact, the only one I've ever seen was the one I bought for my War twink several years ago.

My ranger is using a rock studded smasher. 11 24 with 8 wisdom. Look around for that.
Shovel in LR is great for 2hb skill ups, I use the staff from the undead commander. Snare, fear and wack away.
