Speaking of, am I the only one who
wasn't overly impressed with many of the mob models from the last few expansions? The colors seem muddled and not as sharp as that of models from LoY, LDoN and PoP. For example the DoD
werewolves don't impress me as much as the
PoP ones did. If anything the cartoonish, WoW quality is a turn-off to me. The gargoyle shroud (may be a mob in DoD as well) doesn't hold a candle to the PoP/LDoN gargoyles. The dragorns, especially at close range, look like a muddle of color as if the model was painted in watercolors and then misted with a spray bottle. Likewise for the new orcs. The bizarre spikey spiders look worse than the original wood spiders, much less the exceptional PoP spider models.
Many of the new DoD mobs I've seen are nice: the mindflayer rip-off thingies, the pre-historic crab do-dads from DoD, the snakes are fantastic and should be the base snake model in the game like they changed bats & rats. But I fight mobs with crisp models like the LoY luggalds or the LDoN vampires and then see the mottled mess they call a faerie and wonder what happened.
