The kunark zones were released way before all the graphics overhauling of course, but I do enjoy a run through those zones (when I have nowhere to go--if I have a destination it's tedious) just for the sake of exploration. The size of some of those vast, open zones is of epic proportions. All that world stretching out before you waiting to be discovered. This can be said of a lot of oldworld zones too, the karanas, lake rathe...
The new DoD zones have great effects as well; look at the view from atop the waterfall in Undershore (CC side). And seeing dreadspire from the "dropoff" zoneline in the Hive.
Now, if I wanted somewhere to go to escape the hectic grind of the game and relax, I would head out to a remote island in Ocean of Tears; with the new water effects the zone is a paradise, and a near desolate one at that. There is also Hollowshade Moor on Luclin, with some of the lushest, most mesmerizing scenery (stand on a mountain and look out) I've seen. A lot of luclin zones were nice outdoorsy places.
A lot of velious was well done too. If kunark is the "large wide open, tropical/temperate fields" expansion, velious is that but with a lot of snow and sparkling icy waters. Hey, white and black are colors that go well with everything, and Velious is all white. Plus, Crystal Caverns is one of my favorite zones; that is a spelunker's dream (and shiny things to boot!).
I'm glad someone mentioned Nedaria. If you can get around the mobs wanting to kill you, it's a great place to relax. The music helps to this effect.
I liked some of the DoN zones too, beautiful architecture, but not enough to captivate me, as it's a bit on the cliche side. Still, some parts, like the stillmoon gardens, with shadows and advanced lighting on, are godly.
Hell, why am I even trying? There are so many to mention it'd take all night to review. It would be easier to mention zones that were not visually appealing (not that they werent well done; poi, given its lore, I dont think should be a fantastic, gleaming place). You could make an epic-in-photos of EQ zones.
