As always, I find myself unhappy with the MMO I am playing. I've invested a great deal of time and money into MMORPGs and love them, especially the roleplaying aspect of them, but, am never satisfied by them. I'd love, someday to cap my level on a MMO; to get that nice warm fuzzy feeling of "I win teh interweb." ((Only said in character and with a greater degree of eloquence. >.> <.<;; )) but always get stopped in the low-mid levels by a nagging feeling that inevitably leads me to cancel my subscription. So, I found myself ((Again >.<;; )) sitting in front of my PC, hating the fact that, whatever I do, I end up back at where I started, FFXI, ((Which my friends who play there, inevitably drag me back to.)) going over the same 20 levels over and over again and never actually accomplishing anything that I didn't do last month. Today, it occurred to me that FFXI wasn't where I started playing MMORPGs, and was struck by a wave of nostalgia; fond memories of frantically sprinting through Freeport as a low level mage because I was missing the boat ((Not that I knew where it went . . . But catching it seemed like a good idea.)), and then frantically swimming after that boat before getting eaten by something big and nasty, and loving every minute of it.
Before today I had assumed that nobody played Everquest anymore and that since EQII came out ((Which I tried and didn't like too much.)) it was effectively dead. So, yay I guess, Everquest is still alive and I’m hoping to come back and play . . . But, I do have a few questions first ^.^;; ((The point of this long and rambling post that few of you will care about =p ))
1) IS Everquest still alive ? ((While I'm assuming it is, what with the activeness of these forums, I could still be wrong.))
2) I only have the first two expansion packs . . . will I still be able to play ? ((Assuming that I intend to buy them at some point in the future.))
3) Oh ! And is there an unofficial roleplaying server ?
