Monk epicFollow

#1 Nov 23 2005 at 9:39 AM Rating: Decent
Hey all. First time poster long time reader here. I just started my Monk's epic, but because I'm an Iksar I get pummelled each time I go to Freeport. I tried shared wolf form and even tried sneaking. How can I even start my epic when I'm hated from the start?

You don't specify who pummels you so I looked at your epic to get an idea. If you are starting epic 1 then uhmm I don't see where you need to go to Freeport and who you need to see.

Please clarify

EDIT: P.S I'm not a monk but can't you FD your way to whoever you need to speak to? You can speak and give items to a NPC if FD'ed without being attacked ( someone in the subquest for epic descritpion states so in reply section)
And for Epic 1 you need to go to Erudin

Allakhazam's database says you need to go to Erudin and talk to Tomekeeper Danl to start your Epic.

Might want to try that.

Yes, you will need to do faction work for the freeport monk guild as well as the qeynos monk guild to do the headband/sash quests. These sashes and headbands aren't no drop, so you could possibly pick those up in the bazaar to skip those steps.

Also, if you have a couple of higher level friends you could just kill Brother Z for robe and skip the whole RotLC quest. He doesn't drop it everytime though.

You could always just start a newbie human monk, do both the sash and headband quests (they arent that hard) then transfer them to your iksar. Although it is easier to buy them

Yea, either get the items you need for the quest on your iksar monk, and then transfer them to a newbie human monk for the turn-ins and then transfer the finished headbands to your iksar monk.

I don't know how it is now, but back when I did my epic (3 years ago) you could buy the headbands in EC.

As already mentioned, gather the parts you need for the Freeport sashes and Qeynos headbands and put them in the shared bank and create a human Monk to turn them in.

You cannot rely on buying finished headbands and sashes these days but you can hunt for the parts without competition as well.

If you really want the lore, do the faction wok as mentioned above. I did the Iksar shackle quests on my Human Monk and it was a long but satisfying task.

People you don't have to do ANY faction work. For starters you can get the red headband by killing a monk trainie in FReeport, they drop it every time. As for the one in qeynos simply make a human monk and let him do the turns in. Every item for all the sash quests is droppable. Just farm them with your iksar and let your human monk do the turn in. You sometimes can find people selling the parts in bazaar if you want to save time, but most of the sash quest items are fairly easy to come by.

Also be prepared for the longest most annoying camps ever! Raster, Torgin, Drovalg, and Iksar Betrayer are all long tedious camps. Even at lvl 69 I needed help with the 2 Kunark mobs due to adds. In Karnors you get the Cleric mobs complete healing through the walls when you try to kill placeholders.

After that part its really not too bad.

Just use Sneak on the mob in eurdin (don't know if he is KOS or not, I don't think he is though).

EDIT

Oh and killing the quest mobs for the robe isn't always the best idea. Both of them (the one in Rathe, and one in SK) are undercons as they are flagged as guildmasters. The one in Rathe Mountains is uncommon spawn and neither of them drop the robe every time, in fact I hear its a rare drop. It took my 69 monk, and a well requiped lvl 70 Shadowknight useing harmtouch and disc to kill the one in rathe, and he didn't drop anything but a black sash (which is worthless).

Make a human monk alt to do the turn ins.

Do Raster, Targin, Pawbuster, and Betrayer, while you still get exp.

All but very end are soloable (doubt you find anyone to camp Raster with you :) ).

If you start when you're about 38-40 you can do the whole thing up to RoTLC in a week. Do RoTWF at about 50-54. CFs after that with single group. The Coronet and Saphire etc. can be done at 40 easily.

If you chose to kill the Brothers you'll need high level group.

I was doing the Red Sash part. I was in wolf form but it never worked. I didn't know I could do these parts and trade them from one Monk to another.

There are a couple ways you can go here, but I think working on your faction is a waste of time. It's been a very long time for me, but I think you can just have a human monk do the turn-in for you then give you the sash (can't remember if the turn-in items are no drop or not).

Depending on your level, you can just kill one of the sparring monks at the monk guild. I don't remember what level they are, but they are not very high (20-30 I think). Just run in, FD until you drop agro, then pull one of the monks out and kill. Just watch out for the monk guild master!

My Iksar monk is much loved by the FP monks since he grewup killing orcs but since most folks don't kill orcs at lvl 10-15 like they used to you lose quite a bit of opportunity. Before i went psycho killing FP guards i could actually get into the city without getting attacked at all. Now they qeynos folks hate me since i never killed gnolls but i suppose you could use a illusion potion? Now after that the KC and chardok pipes are so freakin silly but they do pop eventually. I guess you could try and kill bro Z but i'm not sure how hard he is but i'm sure if you have a lvl 70 char at your disposal it's not so bad. I'm trying to get these silly drops off of the gnolls and they would not give up the goods. i slaughtered the entire zone many times and only saw one pelt.

Not 100% sure but can't Iksars use their Whistling Fists instead of the Robe of the Wistling Fists to start their epic?

This means you would have to do the Iksar Monk Shackle Quests to the conclusion instead of the sash/headband/robe quests.

My Iksar monk did do all the faction work needed for the Human Monk quests. Sure it was long and sometimes boring, but it is nice being able to walk through many places where she would be KoS ordinarily.

Get Human faction for Iksar:
Qeynos
1. Kill Blackburrow. I would take 30-40 minutes and kill 100 gnolls every day for a week.
2. Hand in 200pp to guard Shilster in North Karana 5gp at a time. This is because there is a nasty guard in Qeynos on currupt guard faction who wanders near monk guild. Use sneak-turn-in.

Freeport.
1. Get un-KoS to Highpass by killing Orcs, handing in Orc scalps (Crushbone scalps work) Use sneak turn-in until above dubious.
2. Hand in more scalps to get un-KoS to Freeport guards.
3. Kill Orcs in East/West Commonlands, Nektulos or Misty Thicket. Raises Freport Monks (and North Freport guards). You need to be well into amiable to get monk quests.

I would get un-KoS to Paineel too. They are Cazic worshipers and you can get your Hole key and have a place to shop/bank nearby.
