2V or not 2VFollow

The spell description (see link below), for the potion, Elixir of Healing X, says "Increase Hitpoints v2 by 635 to 769 (random) per tick."

Doesn't v2 mean it's a group spell? And if that's the case, why does it say: "Target Type: Self" (same link).

It means it's a HoT (vs insta heal/regen) .. won't stack with Q/celestial x, but plays nice with chloro/etc.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't:

Group v2 spell : Group spell you can cast on a PC/Group outside of your own group.

Group v1 spell : Group spell you can ONLY cast on your own group.

To cast a v2 spell on a PC/group outside of your own group you need to have /TGB on (Target group buff). IIRC this resets to off everytime you zone.

Revision: What I mean is to cast a v2 on the whole (outside) group you need to /TGB on.

v1 spells can only be cast on group members iirc.

I thank you for all your answers, but perhaps I didn't make myself clear.

First, go here:

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=6919

Notice the Description area and the details area.

Now, here's the question:

Under "Description" it says v2 (for group)

BUT

Under "Details" it says, "Target type: self"

These are contradictory statements. I was wondering if anyone can verify that when you use an "Elixir of Healing" potion it heals the whole group or just you.

It just heals you.

I don't think v1, v2, v3 etc are always indicators of self/group. For instance, the different versions (v1, v2,...) of haste refer mainly to whether or not they'll stack effects not to whether the song/spell is groupwide.

I'd assume the v# on the potions is much the same -- an indicator of whether or not it'll stack with other HoT effects that may be on the character.

My thoughts would be regarding the v2 on target type.

I would go with Joph in that the v2 in the description is for stacking.

My guess is if you have a cleric HoT like Celestial Healing going, your potion will not stack.

Thanks Joph, I appreciate it.
