With the DoDH expansion EQ tried to rectify the lack of groups problem. In reality I dont think many highend people in top tier guilds are having problams finding groups, in fact most of those type guilds build troups in-house. The problem really affects the casual player.

I noticed the overwhelming negative reaction to the impending level increase and was curios what do you guys think about SOE addung a server specificly catering to the casual player?

Also I would be interested in your thoughts about what rules the server should have. For instancce, the FV server has almost no no-drop items, which could be great for a casual server filled with people who dont raid but can now buy raid gear. Maybe everything should be no drop to prevent farming and free up camps for more people?

personally, I don't have any problems finding groups. They are mostly guild groups..but that's who I WANT to group with.

I'm not a fan of pickup groups. I don't think EQ is only for the high-end raiders now.

Sure the casual player who spends hours on LFG is likely to just do monster missions now, but if that person really wanted a group, they are not that hard to find. Send out some tells and you can have a group in no time.

Head to a zone you want to group in and shout in ooc, usually someone will pick you up.

How do people buy raid gear if no one raids?

Sounds good in theory, but it would take all of an hour or so before someone started a heavy raiding guild on a casual server due simply to the fact that there wouldn't be any competition. Of course half a dozen other people would have the same idea so there actually would be competition, and it would become a mad dash to get the advantage.

So pretty much what we have on every other server.

I would like that idea myself. And I am one of the people who has a hard time getting a group. I notice the people who don't seem to have trouble getting groups always talk about there guild members grouping with them. Thats great for the high end guilds that can raid about anything at the drop of a dime. But for the guilds that don't have 500 members you can't rely on the guild for a group.

And as far as pick up groups go people are so picky at higher levels that it is a pain to put one together. Example:

ME: /t lvl68ish cleric "Hey putting a DOn together, you want to join?"

Them: "How many players do you got?"

ME: "So far just me (69 monk), however there is plenty of tanks, slowers and DPS LFG."

them: "Which mission are you doing?"

me: "Doesn't really matter, probably creator since that seems to be the popular one."

them: "No thanks."

ME: /t lvl 69ish tank "Hey putting a DON together you want to join?"

them: "No thanks I only want a group in X zone at X camp." (there LFG tag says nothing other then they are LFG)

ME: *pulls hair out and logs because there is no other healers LFG

Then you have the classic situation where you have 3 people in the group allready. Got puller, 1 dps, and the cleric:

ME: /t tank "Hey putting a group together for DON, you want in? I got healer and DPS."

them: "Sure I need to do (something) BRT."

ME: /invite tank (they do not accept invite yet)

Ingroupcleric: "Guys this is taking too long I got to go"

IngroupDPS: "Yea I got things to do, take care all."

ME: *checks LFG, no healers again...pulls some more hair out and logs."

Anyways that is the type of crap I get almost every time I try to put a group together. This don't include the people who refuse to join a DON unless its a certain mission, certain faction, or a group where everybody is lvl 70. (after all that lvl 64 cleric deserves a group of all 70's except themselves /sarcasm)

... of course and there is nothing wrong with this. In fact given the casual nature of the population many of the raiding guilds that would form on this server might make concessions to accomidate the casual player base. For instance they might on;y raid 2 or 3 times a week and have no minimum attendance requirements. They may also raid later in the day accomidating people with jobs, people on the west coast and epople who dont play til after their kids are in bed etc.

As far as the rest of the people this server could be a haven for casual guilds and casual groups. Instead of having their numbers spread thin throughout all the servers they could all be on one server.

My guild is basically comprised of all casual players most of us are 55-65 so we get to do lots of things in that realm but still need to get into pickup groups as well. I find that if you have 2 or more characters that can be played with differnt levels you can just work on the one that has the eaisest time leveling.
