Another cool playable race would be the Minotaur

Doesn't EQ2 have playable rats? Ratonga?

IMO..playing as a rat would suck but, they way I look at it, something is better than nothing.

I do not want to see any new classes. They should improve the old ones and not by adding more AA's and other garbage..

If they unlock [edit for spelling] the character creation screen for a month to let all races be all classes you would have alot of low chars... defeats rpg severely though... but I would make an ogre mage.

Sarnaks, orcs, Kobolds (old models /agree), Aviaks, Goblins would all be okay as long as their real factions were maintained within lore.

The point about actually doing something new has validity though... I would like to see half-orcs... new lore, creates a good range of class availability since arguably they could be everthing a half-elf and troll are (key to that is ranger-druid-shaman-warrior-bard???) giving evil alignments some missing abilities (i.e., tracking). They would have to have worse than iksar faction with a ceiling on it. A half orc should never be welcome in surefall glade.

Another approach would be to make "Minions of Discord" as a playable race. THen you get Kyv as your ranger, Dragorn as your warrior and so on... match the factions to the race lore so you need to starting areas, or not --is does not have to be easy for every race.

Several of the current classes seem to have difficulties. Some caster classes (enchanter comes to mind) have a great toolbox of spells and abilties up to level 50.... then things trail off. Most new spells carry on a few lines and some in a questionable manner.

As a level 50 enchanter you have dots, ds, debuffs, slows, nukes, etc. that are all overwritten by other classes if you group with them. This makes perfect sense, but if a class is missing from the group it the chanter can fill the role (true for many classes).

I would like to see them (developers) seriously look at all classes and what they do for all playstyles across many level ranges. There are lots of benefits they could toss out there, for example how about 2-3 upgrades to the level 25 chanter Damage shield? --still have it overwritten by a lower druid etc. but at least provide some situational usefulness. Potion merchants were a cop-out.

Other classes need some creative things to give a raid --give beastlords a short duration long recast insane fury buff that is mgbable... and so on.

Create lines of spells that mix in combination (aka the old symbol/pot 9) that makes duo and trio combos happy. Make odd things like a ranger mana regen that is overwritten by cleric hp buffs. Put risk and creativety into your buffs. The chanter buffs made to stack with lich come to mind here--very situational, useless for some hugely important for others.

Pure melee I have less to say on but everybody should get presents :D

Reply to upset rangers, yea i agree maybe they could have it as a subclass you can choose which way you want to go..(could be implemented through a AA that only lets you advance in one or the other.

I Would like to see a shape shifting melee class
Personal illusions only
Illusion Tree regens mana and hp faster
Illusions of all global models each haveing a very nice effect amd useful abilities.offensive illusions and some unique debuffs and discs

The only new caster i can think of would be one based on focus type debuffs and stacking focus buffslike- mitigateion, nuke dmg and so on
oh and focus buffs that stack with current focuses

on the fixing of classes, i think they really need to fix the gap in warriors, i've got 10.5k hp and 1700 ac wearing don merchant armor, when people ask me my hp/ac they laugh at me and say you're not good enough i mean don merchant armor isn't bad and it's like very close to the best you can get without raiding, everyone on my server wants freaking time tanks, they need to really look into make warrior's not as gear dependant as they are.

that or introduce a class that beats a warrior in tanking and not as gear dependant.

The new class should be...hmmm...

Let me express my opinion in a different way.

1) Not a new tank class. It took 989/Verant/Sony over six years to get the current tanks as balanced as they are now. I am not saying they are balanced, but if you have played over the past six years, you'd agree that they are the most balanced they have ever been.

2) Not a new DPS melee class. Between rogue, berzerker, monk, beastlord and ranger, there are enough of these classes.

3) Not another mez class. Between mob placement, the current mez classes and the re-vamp of harmony/pacify, most groups don't seem multiple mobs (not like in the days of old) if you set up your group correctly.

4) Possibly a DPS caster. The pet classes and wizards seem to have room for another type. I don't have any suggestions as to the type of class at the moment.

5) Personally, I would like to see some sort of battle cleric. It would not be a tank like a paladin, and it would lack trade the buffing and rezzing abilities of the cleric for DPS. Basically a low ranking DPS melee with healing abilities.

As for a new race, as a cleric I have been wanting completely undead zones/expansions. So my vote would be for an undead race with multiple 99% undead zones (can sprinkle in some live mobs).

Ok I have to say if Frog and Cats can be a race why not Jack Russell Terriers? Now I say this as a person who live with one. I would say owns one be can you own a Jack Russell. They should start with 200 in begging and taunt. When my Russell wants to play she pesters me till I finally pay attention to her. You would need a new category for courage also. They are a big dog in a small body. They would also start high intelligence but must be melee. Maybe a sort of Melee caster class.

Ok, if they can’t be a class of their own make them a pet for Halfling and start a new Beastlord.

Not saying I want to SEE a new class but if they did...

A new priest class, totally evil, like a cross between a necro/cleric/driud.

Gets partial CHs only

Gets FD.

Gets limited porting abilities.

Gets a wraith pet, not as gimp as the druid pet.

We are dreaming right?

A Doppleganger/ Body-snatcher, hands down. You would be able to take over creatures in your current zone only, and your only concern would be to train that particular skill so that higher mobs would not resist your "body-snatch". With out a host body, you would be very weak to any attack, so moving in and out from body to body would be necessary. If your current "host" was getting beaten to the point of death, simply switch to your attacker and finish off your old host:) It would take a skiled player to solo because your use of spells and melee would be greatly reduced to virtually nothing.

Bah, I think a new race would be easier than a new class. The classes are pretty much covered, except wrestler. I magine seeing someone in your group jumping on the mob and rolling around on the ground with them, or doing some crazy Luchedor move from a close by statue, or bringing out "THE CHAIR". Although the races are plentiful, I do like a change in "group" scenery.

As for a "in-game" race, I could see myself playing a Dragorn or a dragon-like race.

UNDEAD...What a great idea that would be. Imagine being a skele...wait we can do that now...still think that would be cool
MINATAUR- thought that was a good idea...maybe because I have been seeing alot of them in lguk lately :)
Not big on the new class idea, but no real explination as to why.

in EQ2 they have an Inquisitor class....like an Evil cleric..gets all the heal spells along w/ nukes, and some debuffs. but make it as less heal class, and more of a meele (please mind my spelling) class. Dk..think it'd be fun

I think the best next step would be subclasses, but only ones that expand on a classes abilities and you can always switch like spec switch

You could still get any spells that come out for your parent class and any skills. To lvl up your chosen sub class you comeplete training tasks/quests till a certain point then to truely master just exp.
, like Ranger/Archer(pure ranged attack like a caster with melee weapons)

,Arcane archer(more burst dps than archer )/predator who sacrifces archery for more melee for advanced wolf illusion that adds substantial dps and some useful abilities

Mage , Summoner gets pet style nukes like Rage instead of dds and slightly better pets,Elementalist gets advanced elemental forms,Conjureateionist physical knife type spell dds and more and better summoned items

The last known playable race to come out was of course the loveable froggies. Again another fill in as far as races go. I personally think they were screwed on a new city and actual lore for their race(they were always slaves to some1 and had no prior history?????wtf????).

Funny you mention about the froggie city. It was answered in this month's Halfling Hodgepodge:

Quote:
Will the Guktan Frogloks ever move out of the Rathe Mountains and into a more suitible environment such as another swamp or someplace with water?

Yeah, it’s very likely that they’ll get a true home city in the future. For now, though, be happy you aren’t sharing a shanty town with a bunch of dark elves like the last group who got booted out of Grobb. You got yourself a nice little tent city nestled away in some prime mountain real estate.

Well, a couple of ideas here...
firstoff: Ents...how cool to be running around in permanant tree illusion...extended reach to melee, of course an impervious root spell...and it can be tied into the weather as well...strength, mana increases when its sunny etc...spells can all be based on tree strenths (call of earth, photosynthesis etc....) Also, they could have a pet that is plant based, or maybe a plant charm spell...(mushroom pet!) heh...

The other idea would be Wolves...we have the kerrans, so lets get the puppies into the act...heh..even think of having a wolf with a barbarian shaman as a pet! Would definately be a melee class or tank perhaps with a nasty ripping melee of the teeth...(you have gotten better at bite [200]) and procs such as rabies, or saliva..definately a dark race. as they get older, they can evolve into werewolves, or rotweilers :)

I would say some sort of a Red Mage... anyone familiar with good ol Final Fantasy knows what I mean... Like a clr/wiz but obviously without the ability to learn the whole plethora of spells limit them to being able to choose either 2 spells a level 1 of each discipline or whatever.
