I've seen general raid tips on various boards. Mostly on Class specific boards. But here's a few tips.
1. Follow the instructions of your raid leaders. Avoid sending them tells unless they specifically ask for it.
2. Don't go afk without having auto-follow on a group member, and don't do it without letting your group know. If the raid moves at least you'll keep up and not come back after a bathroom break and find yourself alone with repops happening around you. Not only will you probably die unnecessarily but you'll probably slow down the raid as they backtrack to recover your corpse.
3. Be careful about sitting, it attracts aggro. Don't be sitting when the puller is bringing mobs into the camp. Stand when you see the incoming message. If you do get agro don’t run around like an idiot, the tank or CC people will get the mob off you. If you have means of either healing yourself, or rooting and backing away, do it.
4. Manage your aggro. You're not impressing anyone by pulling aggro from the main tank, you're just causing ping-pong. A fun game out of EQ, but not conducive to a successful raid.
5. If you die, consent the raid. That way they can retrieve your corpse for a rez. Spamming for a rez is just irritating. As long as your group knows you're dead they will see that someone gets you rezzed.
6. Know who your main assist is and assist them when called. Enchanters quickly learn to hate mezz breakers, and if you're not paying attention you can quickly wipe a raid or cause unnecessary deaths.
7. Send tells for buffs. If you're Virtue/Conviction/Symbol wears off, spamming in the raid channel is going to do several things. Irritate those trying to instruct the raid, **** off the buffers when 4 different clerics rebuff you at the same time wasting mana, and clog up the raid channel.
8. If you're a non-gating class bring a gate potion or some other means of getting out of there. There are many reasons for this, but one example is you run to the bathroom after the raid accomplishes it's goal, come back and find you missed the mass TL and are stuck deep in unfriendly territory. Or maybe you have to leave early for a RL emergency and no wizzy is available to TL you out. It's good to have your own means of getting out.
9. Come prepared. Sometimes it can't be helped that you run out of food and don't get the message till the action starts, but it's irritating to have someone spamming the raid channel for drink, food, arrows, whatever because they didn't take 60 seconds to check their inventory before they came to the raid.
10. Don't ***** about loot. Often times loot has to be handled quickly, and just because you really wanted an item and you don't like so-and-so, complaining about it makes you look like an *** and can be extremely irritating to the raid leaders. They put a lot of effort into organizing and running a successful raid, and listening to someone start whining about loot as they are trying to press on to the next goal or even when done is very disheartening. They generally try to be as fair as possible, and most leaders aren't out to ***** people. If you really have to vent about a loot decision, do it later in tells or PM's on your guild message board, whatever.
11. Be patient. Raids take time, and complaining about waiting on something, or spamming the raid channel with comments like “What’s going on?†“Let’s get going already!†and “OMGzorsz let’s kill!!!111†are not helping. Chances are strategy is being worked out, chain healing cycle is being set, things are happening whether you see it or not.
And finally it doesn’t hurt to do a little research prior to the raid. If you know during the week that you are raiding a certain zone/mob whatever it never hurts to read up a little on it. Maybe check the maps, see where you’ll be going, etc. The more you know about the raid before it happens, the more you’ll understand what’s going on and what you need to do when the time comes.
Finally, you may want to check your class site for any info on that they may have. Though, you’re a ranger it looks like, so trying not to die is pretty much all you can do.
