Lemme see here...

It's been several months since I last played EQOA, and it has given me some clairity of thought. I have come to the following conclusions about why I left:

1.Additude, people were devoted to one thing, and one thing only:EGO. No1 wanted to be nice o just hang. It sounds lame but its wuz true.

2.Inactivity. That it. no one wuz around. No friends, no guildies, nobody. It wuz sad.

3.The lvling wuz dragging on. The spells never had a different effect, just a lil stronger. CMs made some variety, but not much. I only got to Lvl 42 with my main. I got bored, left, found Guild Wars, and been fine ever since.

The on thing I miss is the community, when it wuz there.

This is the original PC version of Everquest not the console version you played. The two are completely different games and player base.

wuz is spelled WAS...it's the same fricken number of letters and looks 100% less retarded.

I didn't even read your post in fear I'd become dumb.

I already posted my lament on the state of Norrath as a game world but I can see both sides of the "instanced" coin. On one hand, you have the social dynamic, people hopefully helping others get a rez, pull corpses (well, once upon a time), full groups, etc. On the other hand, you have griefing issues, overcamping and the plain question of whether or not a lost city or dungeon should really have seventy people running around it Smiley: wink2

What about instancing just the "final" encounter? E.g. everyone zones into a LDoN and kills 40 wombats or collects 20 widgets and then gets a shot at a single instanced room with a named, or two henchmen plus named or whatever?

If you win, perhaps you get a chance to try for an even tougher target in the "next" room?

Probably we couldn't have a timer on the "kill 40 wombats" part since if the zone gets crowded, it will take longer - but it will be a zone full of wombats of the right level for your group so if you kill anything it will count (or have a chance to drop the widget, etc).

I think instances are a double edged sword. In some ways they are good because there is no shouting and /ooc in the zone and u cant get ksed or trained by others.

On the other hand soe has a lot of insanely long lockout timers such as mpg trials.
