Can somebody please help me?Follow

#1 Dec 08 2005 at 8:10 PM Rating: Decent
OK, I am posting on my brothers account that he just registered because he plays WoW, and I just bought EQ lately, and he is nice enough to let his little sister use it.

I just started playing this amazing game, and I found a cool person named Seyferus in Firiona Vie that was being really sweet to me. Anyway, two nights ago, my computer crashed, but because my machine and video card (Nvidia riva 128 TNT2) are at best obsolete, and I can't find drivers for it. As a result, I was able to play for about a week, and I absolutely LOVE this game, but now I am getting a message that says, "eqgame.exe has ebcountered a peoblem and needs to close" so obviously I can't play.

I have tried reformating and reinstalling EQ to no avail, and I just can't get the game to work at all.

I have basically been crying for two days in frustration, and I am just crushed, because I was having so much fun, and Seyferus was helping me learn the game, and the other people on the server were just awesome, and they were all being really nice to my nooberrific self.

After my computer crashed, I didn't get to tell him what was going on, and now my driver situation prevents me from getting back online at all, and now I don't have a way to get a hold of him. ie: No email, phone, or MSN messenger or ANYTHING! I don't want him to think I just bailed on him.

So I need someones help..Please please please, I am begging here!

Could someone /tell Seyferus what is going on with me, and why i haven't logged in in the last couple of days? I am going to buy a new computer soon just so I can keep playing, and if someone would let Seyferus know this stuff, I would really appreciate it. (My name is Sorchess, the name of the person I am looking for is Seyferus, and we both play on Firiona Vie)

Please help me...I am so upset about this. I know I must sound crazy, but I was totally centered on this game, and Seyferus and the other people I was playing with. I am so sad thinking that Seyferus doesn't know whats going on, and probably just thinks I ditched him :(

This is my brothers account, but he is letting me use it whenever I need, so I will check it on a regular basis if anyone reads this and can get me Seyferus' e-mail or even just let him know what is going on. I hope someone can help me. please!

this is so damn cute I will if no one else does. I think it is ggreat that you could develop that much concern. good luck and be safe

It's cute yes, but completely unneccessary. Ok, I lied, I don't think it's really that cute at all. BUT, I did want to say that things in EQ are nothing like real life; not seeing someone you helped or grouped with for a week or two is no big deal. Remember his/her name and page them when you get back on. I seriously doubt this person is as worried and upset as you are...

link 1 <---video driver may be here or here Nvidia home .
Make sure you have the latest version of Directx. I believe it is 9.0c atm. If your operating system is windows 2000/xp and the driver you need is one from the 1st link, the NT version should work fine.

And guess what. Wanna tell him yourself? EQIM

May be able to help diagnose the actual problem more if you can tell us what the exact error message is saying.

Don't be such a kill-joy Glade. I've made real friends of people I met playing EQ. Had two of them at my wedding a few months back actually. While I agree that EQ is nothing like real life, the people you meet and talk with are real, and real friendships can be formed with the people you interact with.

Ok, ok so maybe I've know those two from my wedding for 2 years, and we'd been in actual human contact for 6 months before the wedding, but I still met them playing EQ damnit! Smiley: lol

Huh? Not seeing friends for a week or two is a big deal in RL? Wow. I didn't see my roommate for a month after I started playing EQ. I stopped coming home. I started crashing out on the couch of the friend who got me hooked. (That guys is, coincidentally, the leader of the familly guild I'm in now.) I slept 3 hours a night, and split the rest between work and EQ.

Smiley: laugh

Honestly, in the little over a year I've been playing, I've moved in and out of what seems like a million different cliques. Every once in a while, I'll run across someone from the old days on Brell. Somebody who grouped with me in Crushbone, or who I used to do LDoNs with, and I smile and wave. I'm sure I forget far more people than I remember.

The point that I'm rambling towards, is this:

People will come and go in your EQ life. (Much like RL) If they're worth your time, they'll still be around in two weeks.

BTW - Isn't there a way to send email to toons from the outside?

Edited to show humor. (see the little smiley face?) I'm snowed in at work, and have nothing better to do than post. I love Chicago.

Lord Crowchaser, thank you for the help. I will try the different drivers when I get back home. The actual error message is: eqgame.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. It shows up in a dialog box, an the only choice I have is to click "OK". I have researched the problem, it is totally driver related, so the link you provided will help I am sure...Thanks! :)

Yes, people will come and go, but this person means something to me :) Thnaks to the people that found him in game last night, I really appreciate it.

So shortly after I commit to take my time to advise this seyerus of his friends plight I am on FV as my Barb bst I send tell to the guy and get back the in tounge thing I assume he can read so I continue after about 3 tells he comes back and says Common is not my first language and could I please relay the message more slowly (lol)after I do with some sarcasium. He reads me the riot act for doing so. What the "F" I know things can get a little strange on FV but this was a RL message. Iwas just trying to be nice. :(

a tip for bypassing the language barrier on FV in tells...

instead of /tell soandso use ;tell soandso. this bypasses the the language clusterfcuk on FV.

Its no biggie I was more amused that the role playing thing went that far.
#12 Dec 09 2005 at 12:40 PM Rating: Decent
Thats why i am really enjoying FV, the roleplaying and the language restrictions on that server make the game more interesting, but it makes real life messages tough to convey.

Update: I got my computer to load EQ and I am not turning it off until I get a new computer.

kill-joy? lol, ******** maybe, but the point I was trying to make is that no one I've ever met would stop talking to me if I hadn't seen them in game for a week or two. Your extrapolation that I somehow don't beleive that people can make good friends in-game is out of left field.
