Ahhh, the Karanas
Oh so long ago, a RL friend got me interested in EQ. I made my gnome wizzy, not realizing that my barbarian friend was on Antonica, and it would take me awhile to meet up with her. She says, get on the boat to Freeport and she'll meet me there. Ok, end up dying in OOT, and have to do it again. Finally get to Freeport and bind there. She says, lets go to WK and kill bandits, not knowing anything of the journey that laid ahead, I said sure. Clutching the wall in Kith, trying not to fall off the EK land bridge, avoiding griffs and HGs in NK, finally reach WK. We should bind in Qeynos she says. Ok, I could not believe how massive WK was, nor the fact that the bandits we were going to camp were closer to NK, so we had to run all the way through WK, Qhills, bind in Qeynos and then run all the way back to our camp. The whole journey took FOREVER. Not to mention the run to Qeynos everytime we got full with sashes.
However my favorite zone was SK, not because of the bestiary, or the decent xp for my level, but because of the comraderie of the zone. Every day people would chat it up in /ooc, asking how you were doing, how the hunt was going, cracking jokes, talking a bit of smack, it was great. The zone definitely had a family feel to it that I have yet to see duplicated in EQ. The only /ooc I see in any zone now are "c3?, Temp?, Conviction?, or LFG" It's kind of sad really. Also people rarely chat in groups anymore, it's always kill kill kill. Anyway, I digress,
