I have recently started learning to solo in HoH. I have noticed a couple of things that I am wondering if they are normal or something else that has been broken in various patches.

First off I am noticing somewhat of a "rewind" or warp effect. The most obvious time was when I had zoned in and was traveling to the front right basement. I was running along and all the sudden I was a couple of hundred feet behind where I had just been (it took me about 3 seconds running at Illusion Scale Wolf speed to re-cover the distance). I have noticed it once when I was clicking on a corpse to loot my goodies, only to find I was now a ways off from the corpse and had to run back over there.

Secondly, is something I associate with lag, but I am not getting this in any other zone. I don't even lag in POK, but in HoH (often even though I am the only one in the zone). I target a mob and pacify him. I'll see the first part of my casting message, but the rest doesn't scroll for a short time. If I am tashing before I charm them, sometimes I don't see the message until the mob is already halfway to me. It is pretty sporadic, not following an exact similar pattern, but it is always similar.

Is HoH like this for everyone or do I have PC issues to look into? I have been having a lot of problems with crashing to the server screen on zoning with this PC, but my second PC (usually in trader mode on my second account) does the "lag" thing too and it never seems to crash to server on zoning.

It sounds like you might be having connection issues. As far as the warping goes that is the result of a recent antihack patch. It used to be movement was controlled completely client side. If you went LD for a few seconds your client would keep track of where you are and then report it to the server when you came back online. The server would just warp you to where your client said you were and it would appear seamless to you.

However, some people would start running and then unplug their network connection on purpose while running in front of KOS mobs. They would then plug it back in when they were in a safe area. and the server would warp them past the KOS mobs thus avoiding aggro.

Now the server does a sanity check and if you go LD for a few seconds even though your client still thinks your moving the server will pop you back to the last place it knew you were before you went LD. Thus causing the rewind effect

Next time you notice this hit F11 to bring up your lagometer. I'm guessing you will notice it go yellow or red right before you warp back

Thanks Xythex. I'll try to remember to check that, but it happens pretty fast. I'll just have to turn f11 back on while I'm playing so I can hope to see the yellow/red in peripheral vision.

I'm on cable connection running to a router with 3 computers all running off that. I don't notice any connectivity issues with the others, but then when you are in trader mode on one computer it's hard to notice any issue and the 3rd one is browsing only, so I'm not usually trying to load any pages while I'm driving across the zone on my gaming one.... :)

Not really related to your topic here, but I would love to know how you solo in HOH. I have a 66 enchanter in dire need of exp. =)

I solo my Wiz in HOH occasionally and noticed a (possibly) related issue:

While I'm zoning in, I warp into zone and aggro Brefast Neers who proceeds to whack me for several hundred a pop, before I finishing zoning in. At which point, I warp back to zone-in as if nothing has happened (though I see the msgs, and aggro text).

edit: only happens 1 out of 2 times while zoning in... started after Dec 7 patch

I also noticed the casting delay issue you talked about when I've been quadding in PON. I'll do my slight turn, start to cast, see the casting text, then nothing... if I stay put for a few more seconds, I'll eventually see the damage report, but if I move, I'll get the interrupt message. All this happens while the network status is a rock-solid green.

edit: again, started after Dec 7 patch... happens only intermittently, but when it does, it usually happens for several casts
/bugged it - very odd stuff
