Hello Folks,

Rapaz-Dev posted this in reply to a thread, I just wanted to float this to the top to make it easier to find.

The steps below will solve the problem of having a stuck mouse in the upper left hand corner of your screen while running in full screen mode on Windows XP. If you are experiencing this problem with any other OS, please try these steps as well.

First download the Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit from this location. It's about 7Megs. Once it is downloaded, install the application.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/.NetStandardServer/Install/2.6/NT5XP/EN-US/act26.exe

You can then launch the application by going to your start menu, Program Files, Windows Compatibility Toolkit, then click on the Compatibility Administration Tool.

Under the System Database section, click on Applications.
In the right list view scroll down to the EverQuest entry.

Double click the EverQuest entry.
Now right-click the EQGame.exe entry in bold that shows up in the right hand view and choose Disable Entry.

You will now be able to use your mouse while in full screen mode on Windows XP. This will also allow you to alt-tab from EverQuest.

Thank you.

That fix doesnt work for everyone. If you follow the instructions that are posted and eq doesnt show up in the list of applications, you need to find another post in which there are instructions to make a new application.
Even then in my experiance it is not a permanent fix. I have to redo the fix everytime I go back into game.
(Yes I keep myself in trader when not playing but even then I can crash out.)

I had the same problem. I looked at the directions for installing a program to allow EQ to recognize my mouse drivers.. bleh... I went to the microsoft / windows web site and found my way to the updates page where it scans your system and tells you what updates are avail. It had found somewhere around 15 updates (had auto update turned off) so I updated with everyhting listed. everytime I updated 5 it would find 1 or 2 more to update that update - just kept going till none where left. shut down PC - restarted - loaded EQ ran smooth ever since.

You could also go straight to here

http://download.microsoft.com/download/.NetStandardServer/Install/2.6/NT5XP/EN-US/act26.exe

and download in install this single Windows Update patch. This is the one that will fix your mouse issue.
