Hii everyone!!!

I was wondering what the most prophetable (please mind my spelling) tradeskill was. Im thinging of making my cleric a Baker, but i'de like to no if i could make money off of that? Baking seems prophetable, and cheap at the same time.

I already wasited a few hundred pp trying to raise smithing skill, but i just decided to stop on that lol. (skill was only up to 44).

So please let me no, is baking a good money maker?

While baking may not be the most profitable, you can certainly make money selling MTPs in the Bazaar. To have a decent profitable tradeskill, like tailoring, you are going to spend an arm and a leg.

Baking and brewing are going to be the cheapest to skill up. Smithing, tailoring and jewelcrafting are VERY expensive.

Once you have mastered a TS you can easily turn a profit, but as far as making back all the PP it takes to master a TS, it will take some time before you recomp all the PP put into it in the first place.

I have put well over 100K into my TSs and none of them are at the point where I can turn a profit yet.

Tradeskills can make good money but you have to spend it (or do a hell of alot of farming) to earn it.

Baking can be a pretty steady money maker (Halas meat pies, Misty Thicket Picnics, Planar Fruit pies, Hero sandwiches, even fish rolls and patty melts), it just depends on your competition. You won't make tons of money, but it will be a nice steady extra income if you can leave a trader up in the bazaar while you're not playing.

If you spent a few hundred pp getting to 44 smithing .. go to http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/index.php and check out the tradeskill guides forum.

People don't really go into TS for plat, though some do eventually turn a profit.
Go to www.eqtraders.com for more detailed answers. If they dont laugh at you.

Right, like I'm gonna tell you my secrets...

Does not cost 100s of pp to get to 44 in smithing...you can get to 115 reletively cheaply, to 54 for FREE if you have Gates of Discord.

Tradeskill profits go up and down. Sometimes you can make some money on one skill, then nothing. Do not overlook specialties like Alchemy or Tinkering too (if your character can do these).

Get a forager character too, that helps immensely. Tracker doesn't hurt either. You maximize profits by farming the ingredients you can farm. If nothing else you can reduce costs involved in skilling up.

Tribute tradeskill items with little PC resale value. Know the tribute value in any case so you do not sell in bazaar too cheaply. While skilling tailoring, I made dozens of Acrylia studded masks. I may have sold a few in the bazaar but they tribue nicely. Since I farmed the major ingredients, the cost was minimal.

If you're asking if you can rely on tradeskills as the major source of income, the answer is no. If you're asking if tradeskills can provide additional income to your character the anwer is yes.

A few skills are class limited, such as alchemy and tinkering. Of the rest, tailoring and baking aren't too bad, and you can make a bit at smithing.. Jewelcrafting pretty much requires you be an Enchanter. Most characters that have made a small fortune in tradeskills started with a large fortune.

I turn a profit on tailoring and baking and fletching. I smith only enough to make tools for fletching. Percentage wise I think fishing is the most profitable skill out there. Bait is 3 cp per cast and you get a 2-3 sp item each time( once you skill up of course ). That's 700% profit! Profit is infinite if you forage bait. However I'd still be in cloth/patchwork armor if I relied on fishing to make a living. :)

As you adventure about it's great to find items you can work into something useful, that's quite rewarding imo.

I make anywhere from 15K to 60K a day doing my tradeskills. I do not make the stuff and try to sell it. I advertise my what I can make and take orders for the stuff, that way I am not stuck with stuff that won't sell fast taking up space I may need.
