Soloing a 56 SKFollow

I've got a lvl 56 Shadowknight alt, decently equpped (at least not embarassingly underequipped) who I'm working on getting some levels with. For the occassions where grouping isn't an option, does anyone have any good iseas on locations for soloing? Zones I've tried so far include:

Velk's: Not bad, I'm just getting burnt out on it
Sebilis: This is my latest place to work on it. Tougher than Velk's spiders but much better loot as well. Plus I love me my Sebilis.
Dranik's Scar: Too many lt blues and the tougher dk blues such as the ukans beat me like a rented mule.
LGuk/SolB: Too many lt blues
Charisis/Karnor's: Faction issues so I try to avoid them
Grey: Weak xp, annoying mobs
Maiden's Eye: Mobs had too many hp/dmg to seem worth it given that my only healing is in taps and my mace proc.

I think that's it off the top of my head. Just seeing if anyone has any hidden secrets.

Haven't even though about hitting up Nadox again on the SK. My bard lived there once upon a time but last time the SK wandered in was closer to lvl 50 when even the Torg zoneline mobs were a challenge.

As a 55 enchanter I recently tried the new zone off of Nek forest (corathius Keep?). I only beat the first spider. It had a ton of hp and the damage was much greater then Velks. It also ran @ 20% so have root ready. Probably close to 10k hp versus 6k or so with the spiders in Velks.

Exp I received was great but it took awhile to kill it and it ran. I am also getting very burnt out on Velks. However, the exp is good and the pulls are managable.

The entrance to the Hole and Scarlet Desert are both hot zones you could solo for some easy exp.

I wouldn't give up on The Grey. I easily soloed from 50-61 and 5 aas in a couple weeks. However, I was playing a decently geared druid. The eternal golems around SSR have pretty low hps and would are easily soloable by a 56 sk. I have to admit, though, the traps, shimmering rock fiends, and lack of air are definitely drawbacks.

The creep reapers in Corathus Creep might provide a decent time for you. I can solo them as a 65 CLR so I would assume that a 56 SK would be able to. They drop some decent loot as well. There is a camp I can show you, usually by the time you clear it, it is already respawning.

DS will be good in a level or two, aug farming can provide to be a lucrative profession.

I went to CC with Grarin a level or two back. We got plowed so quickly, it was an embarassment to Shadowknights and Beastlords alike. Wasn't with the Creepers -- those were camped, but some of the other mobs. Other shadowknights are just now starting to talk to me again so I'd hate to blow it.

The other mobs will kill you fast. The creepers are the way to go...when they are not camped. They drop mechanotablets which are used in Spell Research IIRC. Sell pretty well in the bazaar.

The Grey can be sweet still at that level. There are 2 good areas to solo in. One is around the Temple, as mentioned. The nice thing about it is the occasional named, which drop items still of value for twinkage or selling for twinkage. The other spot is the skellys in the corner around that pond that drop shards for the VT quest. Especially if you have an advantage against undead. There aren't many roamers in that corner, and the mobs spawn often enough to keep you busy most likely. I remember soloing them with my paladin at one point for VT access, but that was before it was a hot zone and the exp sucked. It would probably be even better for working on AA exp.

I know it's tough soloing a knight class at that level, it was pretty much impossible for me to do it, as my gear sucked compared to yours.

If you had some way of slowing I'd recommend PoJustice. But without a slower, those mobs just hit too hard for it to be practical. But maybe you'll be able to find a high 40's low 50's shammy sometime in the near future. That would make duoing an option...

you could try the enforcers in the PoJ basement they hit for a max of 200 and are full of dimonds and EP's so the loot factor is good. You would have to FD pull them though but since you are an SK you should have no trouble. They do have quite a few HP's though at least if you find you can't take them you can abort the pull.

I'm able to easily clear the front hall of Sebilis as well as the upper zone-out hall. I could probably crawl around but there's not many safe resting spots between ZI and ZO so it's one end or the other for me. Another option might be the big empty area outside the Jail building.

This is just from my SK's point of view but if we're both breezing through Velk's spiders I'm guessing our solo abilities are close to each other.

Sound like it!! The crystal statues and spiders go down fairly quickly but I am not very mana efficient. My pet should do more tanking then he does but I get impatient and start nuking. Between the healing potions and good gear, I can tank the spiders and let pet whack on em while I nuke.

Corathius Keep will be a few more levels before I can successfully solo there. I will need a new pet before that happens.

I've been doing more of the Frenzied ledge. Safe resting spot, lots of spiders to pull and an off chance for a named drop. Still, I think the spiders are about the same in difficulty.

I was exceptionally unimpressed by xp in the Grey last time I tried soloing there at the Ssra temple. Add in the trap worms and crap and it didn't appeal at all. I might try the corner but my only "undead advantage" is an archaic undead nuke.

Scarlet Desert is mostly lt blue/green unless I want to climb the plateau. I got pwnd in the Hole last time I tried soloing there but that was several levels and upgrades ago.

Anyway, I'm not trying to shoot down ideas and appreciate any and all suggestions.

"The Hole" is light blue to my 55 chanter and has been for a level or two.

Of course, I am talking about the entrance. Most of the mobs that are left in the Hole summon and that makes it very tough for me.

I wouldn't bother with "the Hole" unless you have a group and can go farther into it.

I also agree with "The Grey." To much trouble for the effort. Thats why Velks has been my zone of choice.

I have recently tried the Tower of Frozen Shadow. By the 4th level the mobs start to turn light blue. Thats as far as I made it. I may try the 5th floor. Its a great zone since you basically have to clear each level of mobs before the named spawns and drops a key for the next level.

I got keyed up to the Penthouse floor in ToFS though I never killed Tserrina with my SK. Even on the 6th, there was a fair number of Lt blues at lvl 54 or so. I think Lvl 5 was actually better xp with the undead gnoll thingies.

I can solo rats 'n bats 'n generic Kyvs and Dragon-thingies fine enough even in a straight up fight, it's just that most are light blue by now. The dark blue mobs are a bit nastier though I haven't tried kiting them. I'm still used to that "Fear Immune at 50+" restriction they recently lifted Smiley: laugh

I don't have any suggestions for you at 56, but I can certainly agree that The Hole isn't a good spot for you now. Before hanging up his weapons, my last warrior used heal pots from the late 40's to about 52 at the entrance, but things were slow even at 52. Any farther in isn't a good place to be solo, as the adds are everywhere.

I used to solo the PoJ first cell block, wasn't all that much downtime, even when I forgot to get the fungi off the monk.

Not sure what the Wyvrens in CS con to a 56, but I know the Othmirs down the cliff are blue and they are easily fearkitable.

Dulak's you can also fear kite, but it is slow. Fair amount of downtime. The mobs hit pretty hard, so you will get down time after a straight melee fight also.

I remember doing the LDCs in Sol B before as a SK. While it was easy to get too, and very safe and easy, the exp was horrible.

You could try City of Mist. The mobs there hit hard, but they have low hit points. And they are easy to pull.

I don't remember if it is possible to stay in one of those Dranik Scar cave instance things, but you could try getting a couple friends to log on level 45ish alts, and have one of them zone into the instance first, and get level 45 mobs in there, should be blue and not too hard. And then they log off and you stay in solo.

Katta Castle wasn't that bad either. Not the greatest exp, but it is easy and safe.

For xp bonus zones, the Hole or Scarlet Desert get my vote.
Both have challenges in terms of getting there (shrink/invis for Hole, transport to SD - which is solved via GH port to twilight sea). I'd recommend gate potions in either case to get back, or otherwise face a tough time getting back.

Scarlet Desert
Grab a gate potion, and port via GH (for about 65pp) or wiz TL to twilight sea. Zone is almost straight west from port in area. Invis and run up to the mesa top. This is generally a very low risk place to xp due to zero add factor, and easily split/pulled mobs.

Watch out if the ESR 1.5 epic mob is up in the little alien temple, otherwise, the tro jeg fire servants and captor are easily single pullable. The warders are casters, and iirc I didn't mess with them because of their dispels.

On the other side, the revenants (straight melee w/dot proc) and reavers (SKs) are also single-pullable. Unless someone else is there PLing or quadding, there ought to be enough for you to fight non-stop (if you can) and earn XP up to around 60 or 61 when they start to go light blue. If a caster is quadding, they may let you clear the Reavers since they can't be quadded easily. All the named (Magistrate, etc..) are revenants and straight melee types.

Any area on the mesa top is safe to AFK, there are no roamers up here. Again, the Elite Sun Rev 1.5 epic mob is the only thing to watch for. If he's up, you can still pull reavers/revenants from the ruins and just avoid the tro jeg temple and ESR. If someone is raiding the ESR, I would definitely advise leaving; he's got a nasty AE that can take ou out.

Some info on the bread-and-butter mob up there: sun revenant

Loot is bad, with just a few items sell for 50pp in baz, and vendor trash that sells for 1pp or so.

The Hole
If you invis up in the Hole, you can run down to the see invis line (past the elementals, near the NPC named Cogswin who spawns by the little pond). Two constructs will roam up to this point where you can single them, but watch your back, as elementals will also roam down to the end of the hall and may add if you're too close.

From that point the constructs from the room below can be single pulled pretty easily, though watch out since several of them will wander in rotation. They start to go light blue in the upper 50s though.

Just below that is the entrance to the old city, with plenty of ghosts that are single pullable at your level, as well as gargs on top of the wall if you want (gargs will add if you get too close to the wall). This area with the three static ghost spawns is safe to AFK. Oddly, the ghosts DO run at low health, so snare and lay a beat down. One other heads-up, a construct from the room above will roam down to top of ramp, so if you are on the platform too close to ramp, he may add.

Past that entrance, there are two roaming constructs that might add as you pull ghosts, but otherwise, the buildings are loaded w/ghosts to pull. As I recall, this area definitely goes light blue by upper 50s as well.

Past that, the mobs don't really change lvls until you get to the tunnel, which can be difficult to manage due to quantity of adds.

Loot here is pretty good, with tradeskill items (mercury, sulfur, oxides), and stuff like gems, earrings, bracelets and other vendor sellable junk.

Edit note: added comments regarding loot.

Grieg's End has been my choice of xp from 55 - 61. Prior to the gate, assuming you zone in from DSP, You should be able to single pull every mob in a main path (mobs in closed rooms are usually too close to each other). I normally would pull in a circular route, from top to bottom of map, just west of gate.
#23 Dec 14 2005 at 3:41 PM Rating: Decent
The secret is Lucin..or velks =p!!!!!!!!

Acrylia Caverns(get to the port room but dont port to inner AC just stay in the big room. I did a lot of exping here not bad money drops either.

Grieg's End Not my favorite spot but not bad.

Maiden's Eye not bad EXP but I swore it off after spending forever and a day there sharding =p

You could also do SSRA...
hell I think i went from 55-60 there sharding/keying not bad exp but you'll probably need a group or at least a healer.

Grab a slower and go to Grieg's End. I'm sure that one of the beastlords would tag along, since Zasriz can't.

A bit late on the reply but PoN is nice at that lvl. You can fear kite the doggies for decent exp and they drop gems quite often as well. There's a dead tree just outside of their camp along the wall you can setup camp at with plenty of room.
