AA percentage increasesFollow

I am confused about Sony's method of calculating percentages when it comes to aa's.

Specifically, I have a 70 chanter and I'm working on an aa called Silent Casting. It has 5 ranks, 5 points each. Here's the description:

*** While active, this ability will reduce the amount of hate you generate when casting spells by up to 20%. Each additional rank increases the maximum that this ability can reduce your hate by an additional 20%. ***

At first, I took this to mean that after I had learned all five ranks of this aa that it would reduce the amount of hate I generate when casting spells by 100% (5 times 20% = 100%). However, after discussing this with friends and guildies, there seem to be vastly differing opinions of how these percentages are calculated. Something to the effect of:

1st rank = (up to) 20%
2nd rank = 24% (20% plus 20% of that 20%)
3rd rank = 28.8% (24% plus 20% of that 24%)
4th rank = 34.56% (28.8% plus 20% of that 28.8%)
5th rank = 41.47% (34.56% plus 20% of that 34.56%)

...Considering each rank costs 5 aa points, and the fact that this spell only lasts 54 seconds with a 36 minute recast, if this is how it's calculated I'm not sure this is a road I care to go too far down right away.

For me, much will depend on how the game calculates this. If it's not like my original understanding (100% with all 5 ranks), I think I'll spend those next 20 aa points in other places. If anyone knows how this is done, please let me know. Thanks very much!

one thing is for sure you will never get 100% of something in EQ that is gauranteed. train in two or three levels of it and see how it affects your casting and that's really the only way to tell if you want it or not.

According to the description listed here (just search for it as a spell name), it is 20% per lvl for a total of 100%.

the rank 5 one

You won't ever get a 100% reduction, or a 100% increase, etc. from a passive AA or focus like that. Except for ones that sspecifically state it (Mastery of the Past = 0% fizzle rate on low-level spells, etc)

High-level foci, like Anger of Muram, etc. are...what, 45% increase in damage? And those are the max foci at the moment.

It's not a gear foci and it's not a passive AA. It is 100% but it has a recast timer on it.
