I was in PoK just now and heard this /ooc:

"I am a High Elf. Where is my home city so I can get the merchant stone?"

That struck me as odd. The real kicker was when i did a /who all <playername>

He was level 21.

And an Erudite.

And people wonder why i drink..... =/

He could have been a HE enchanter, they get illusion erudite at level 12. With the new tutorial and the new newbie quests, he could easily make level 21 in his first week playing EQ and not have found his way to his official home city yet.

The tutorial doesn't even let you go home untill lvl 10 if you spend the maximum time there and most folks don't even need to go there most of the time the gool ol days of levelin up in the noob zone and learning you home city are over

Good. Means real newbs are still around, which means EQ has shelf life.

Ha!!

That made me laugh.

I have three plus years in the game as a high elf..

I started an iksar monk last year, level 28 now, and he has NEVER been back to his home city.

He wasn't an Enchanter.....

he was a 21 Erudite Wizard...

55 Erudin Enchanter here.

I have had very little reason to travel to Erudin. The only reason I make trips to Erudin now is to use the Tribute Master and donate stuff to him.

I actually use Freeport and Qeynos much more since my first characters, 4 years ago, started in those cities.

PoK is on stop shopping which doesn't help the situation.

I like the tutorial but it's too bad it causes you to by-pass your home newbie grounds. I think they are a valuable learning tool as well as giving your character some feeling of being connected to the world of Norrath.

I have a Erudite Wiz, she gets back to Erudin occasionally for tribute and some researching. My Frog Paly still mourns the loss of her birthswamp. My Human Ranger, at level 48, still pretty much lives in Surefall when she's not out battling evil.

Maybe in one of these expansions SOE ought to add something that will reconnect characters to their homes. I suspect the tribute NPC's were put in hometowns for that purpose but it just isn't enough.....the unique cities of Norrath and it's moon are all ghosttowns.Smiley: frown

Maybe they could tie in the tutorial and the home towns... like make part of the quest to finish off the tutorial charm in your own home city. That would be fun, I think.
