Coming to EQ, a few questionsFollow

#1 Dec 19 2005 at 8:00 PM Rating: Decent
Hello everyone
I've been playing DAoC for a while, but its become boring, just not that fun anymore. I had played EQ years ago and really enjoyed it, but had to stop due to RL stuff.

Anyway, I need to know a few things before i come back.
1) Are server poplations very high anymore? And is it possible to find low level groups anymore? What would be a good server to start on?

2) I need to decicde on a class. I like to solo a lot because i dont always have a lot fo time, and i like melee classes(but casting is still great). But, i still like yto group a bit when i have the time. What would be a good class?

3) whats changed with the newest expansion?

thanks

On Fennin Ro its very hard to get low level groups. There is plenty of people who still play but most of them are 60+.

If you wait till next year you can get that titanium deal that has every single expansion for $20. Maybe other servers are better, but I have 4 charactors between 25 and 32 that I don't play because I can NEVER find a group. The only reason my necro made it to 32 was because he can solo abit. I even do /who all 25 32 and you see about 5 people on and 3 of them are bazaar mules and 1 of them is you. Once you hit 25 its like everybody vanishes till high levels.

1) Low level groups happen fairly often (tutorial -> mid 20s), mid levels can be tough, but see #3.

2) What were your favorite class(es)/spec(s) in DAoC? (bunch of 50s here, left shortly before Catacombs) Do you want a similar class in EQ? Do you want melee - DPS/tanking/utlity/pulling? Would you like a pet with that?

3) Big change in DoD = monster missions and shrouds .. they allow a lvl 15 to group with a lvl 70 and get xp. Big change in DoN = guild lobby - no corpse runs if you have some coin, not even a gravestone to go pray at.

There really is no best class. It's all based on what you want and like to do.

Tanks: Warriors, Paladin, Shadowknights
Healers: Cleric, Druid, Shaman
Melee: Rogue, Zerker, Monk
Caster: Wizard, Magician, Necromancer, Enchanter
Pet: Magician, Beastlord

Some good soloing classes: Necromancer, Shaman, Druid, Beastlord, Magician, Enchanter.

I would put Rogues on the bottom of the solo ability list.

So it basically comes down to what you want to do. Pick a few classes that sound fun and read up on them. Decide on one and jump right in. Don't feel shy to ask any questions in the game or on here. If you don't like what you pick you can try something else.
