Jchapin: when i read your first reply post, to mine, only one word comes to mind-----Two-faced, you grill me about being a dumbass for wanting to keep SOE's account private, when they own the rights to it; then WTF did YOU turn ur settings off for your trader???? guess that's different, cause it's ur trader, that you don't want anyone to see, huh?

You read it? Seriously? Well you obviously didn't understand it so lets see if I can dumb it down a little for you.

I brought up my trader to point out the fact that you can easily block everything from everyones view and to point out the fact that I somewhat agree with you on that issue

I brought up the fact that the characters belong to SOE and not to you to point out the fact that their is no invasion of privacy as it is not your personal property. You spamming SOE will be nothing more than a waste of time as they will tell you the exact same thing.

And finally the reason I called you a ****[sm][/sm]ing idiot is because you compared the posting of your toons gear to the posting of your ssn, phone #, email, account info and personal info. You then claimed it was turning you into a nameless statistic.

You brought up 2 different points in your arguement:

1. That your info should only be displayed if you want it to be. On this point I partially agree.

2. That posting your toons info is an invasion of privacy and a major security breech.

So I partially agree with 1 point but not with the other and that makes me two-faced? Please explaine.

maybe i should browse your gear, so i can give ya pointers how to bump ur INT up a lil

Feel free. See those blue names at the bottom of my post? Feel free to click on one. They will show the same exact thing EQplayers will show you.

Nobody is argueing that fact. What the rest of us find funny is how the OP has compared the posting of his characters inventory to the posting of his personal information and how it is making him a nameless statistic on the web.

Or how he thinks that because someone sees that his toon is DA UBAHZZ that they are going to hack his account, collect his information and charge millions of dollars to his CC

Well, paranoia aside, communication skill aside, perhaps the point would be that the emotional response to displaying character information without permission can be the same as the emotional response to other personal information being so revealed.

Kelti,

My vague recellection is that you got into a chat room and performed some rename command ala the DOS rename command.

/rename oldname newname

or something like that. Or maybe DOS is just burned into my mind, lol. Get into the general chat room and ask around maybe, I think that's what I did.

There will allways be whiners and crybabies, whining and crying whenever there is a change.

I like eqplayers.com but I probably wont subscribe because of the homepage being so slow. We will see.

I can see someone getting pissed off if they have items in thier bank or inventory that they say they dont have to thier guild and such...going to be hard to keep that kind of thing hidden now lol.

I would think most raiding guilds would want to have all thier members useing EQplayers as a requirement....as it is easy to fake Magelo but kinda hard to fake EQ players once they get it up and running properly....so i guess the only ones that would be upset would be the cheaters/hackers/ dishonest players.....

Not really. Even if a player cheated magelo to get into a guild they still have to prove themselves. Your magelo says you have certain aas, gear, hp/ac/mana, spells, etc. If you can't handle the content the guild is doing and do your part you won't be a part of that guild for long. Cheating on magelo is more just purely for bragging rights of how 'uber' your toon is. If it comes time to prove it in game a cheated magelo isn't going to get you anywhere.

My bank, etc, has always been marked public on my Magelos.

Please someone read my EQPlayers profiles and try and scam me, I am bored! But they never do.. I am not uber enough.

Le sigh.

It's certainly understandable not wanting the world to see our personal stuff.........I'd be very embarrassed if someone rifled through my undie draw.

But this isn't OUR stuff. It's SOE's stuff. It's a moot point. AND as many have pointed out, you can opt to have your stuff not show.

Personally I have no use for the site. Much like Magelo, if I look at too many other toons and their gear I just get depressed that mine all seem to be lacking.

It's not like EQplayers is even correct. Last time I looked, my mage was wearing summoned water on her ear and another of my chars was wearing the leaves (bandages) from a monster mission.

If you posted on EQLive forums, you had to log in the same way you do now for EQplayers. I've never heard of anyone being hacked from there so how is this different?

You are spot on there, Felicite is a mess:

http://eqplayers.station.sony.com/character_profile.vm?characterId=476741373704

Although Pixel is close, just missing her back slot:

http://eqplayers.station.sony.com/character_profile.vm?characterId=476741803658

I see the potential.. if they make it faster than a glacier running down hill, if it's correct (including caps, etc) and they can get me the information I use Magelo for (Mod, Mod2, Focus buttons for example).

I like it overall. They do need to make it simpler for the secrectively shy guy type to be anon, but other than that, it has alot of potential.

I do very much like being able to see what is on my toons and especially in my bank, while doing some game related research at work.

What's wrong with having a bile product in your face, helps you win friends and makes a nice conversation piece.

And no picture, I wanted to see your bile face, I mean see your toon.

Question, Do they still have the Game Cards you can buy at the retail stores? The 90 day cards for like 40-50 dollars. If you are so upset about using a credit card why not use one of those, if they still have them. As far as eqplayers.com isn't there a button that you can hide your stuff. I know there is one person in our guild that has permission denied.

Id also point out that having your account access info will not give them access to your credit card. They will be able to look up your date of expiration and the last 4 digits of the card, but without the other 12 digits, thats all useless.
