#1 Dec 27 2005 at 10:15 AM Rating: Decent
Hi,

Have never had a need to go there and havent a clue. Not on list of zones by level. Now, do need to go as finally doing Ranger's Epic (first one).

Thanks

Click the Kaladim stone in PoK (its on the good side).
#3 Dec 27 2005 at 10:21 AM Rating: Decent
Kaladim stone on good side in POK stated above. Soon as you zone in (If you dont got a map) run right and you will see a guard post. Follow that path that is in front of the guard post and you will end up at the Kaladim ent. Think there is a big dwarf head above the ent. Once you see that you know you are going to right way.

That I get, and can understand. However, according to this guy's sig he has a 66 paladin and a 70 ranger. That, to me, is mind boggling. That someone can get not just one, but two toons to 60+ without knowing where Kaladim is, it's just sad.

Sorry it is mind boggling but I have never had to go there with any of my toons for anything and if not realized there is plenty to do in this game and never touch foot in several zones. It has now raised it's head and to be frank, after I do that part of epic, there is probably a 99% chance I will not be going there again. And in a bit of defense, I have had to direct 70 toons to Kir forest for the Halloween quest since they had never been there and I have been several times. In fact, have had to direct others to get their Sol Ro key lately.

It is a matter of what you are doing for yourself or for others that directs where your feet land in this game. Doing part of my epic yesterday, had some 70's with me who had never been to the Karanas and this was surprising to me because this is where I raised my toons.

Not important if one has been somewhere that another has not, what is important is to help them out and thank you to those who did tell me where to go to get there and which way to go when I land in zone.

Others, just keep rolling your eyes and shake your heads whatever works for you.

~280 zones according to Alla.

It shouldn't be a suprise that a lvl 60+ toon these days hasn't visited a zone. It doesn't make them a newb/noob. A zone we never been to might be another toons leveling spot. Just because we grew up in certain zone/s doesn't mean everone else has. If one player only played evil races you can't expect them to know where crushbone is and vica-versa.

It doesn't suprise me that a level 60+ toon hasn't visited a zone. Hell, I've played this game on and off since 99 and there's still zones I haven't been to. What suprises me is that a person with 2 level 60+ toons didn't know where a starting city for one of the races is. There's a big difference there.

Also, keep in mind this isn't any sort of an attack or flame. My comments were based more on how much some players are missing by doing the old power grind to 70 route. I think it's a shame that some players don't even take the time to visit some of the starting cities, or n00b area zones, if for no other reason than to see what the zone looks like.

No, I wouldn't expect that. But since the OP has 2 human toons, I would think he would at least know that the dwarf city was off Butcherblock, especially since there is a stone for it in PoK. It wouldn't suprise me terribly if he'd never set foot in there.

But the Crushbone Belt turn-ins to Canloe Nusbeck was such a major source of exp and cash for newbies! Good for powerleveling; just give someone a few backpacks of Belts and send them to Kaladim.

Everyone should know where every zone in EQ classic is, at the very least. Everyone has that, after all.

I think they need to revamp all the starting cities and make them accessible to only the top tier raiding guilds! Then they'll know where there the cities are! :P

On an even lighter note, remember when You'd have to have a small raid force to take down the Priest of Discord?

Hi guys,

Just wanted to put in my 2cp on this subject. I dont believe its that hard nowdays for a lvl 60+ to never have seen Kaladim or Qeynos or Blackburrow or the Karanas for that matter.

First off, the tutorial dumps you in PoK. Thus what reason do you have really to go to your home city which most players who are newer might not even know what it is.
Secondly, the world of Norrath has expanded so much if you want a group you have to stick to certain areas.

Now lets look back on the old days and see just how easy it is for people now. My top ten list.
1. They probably have no idea what someone shouting"BOAT" means.
2. They have never traded anything in the east commons tunnel.
3. "Paw of Opolla" ?? "WTF is that?"
4. "So this cool little glowing line will direct me to where i need to go?" "cool now i dont have to run around to and actually "search" for anything/anyone"
5. Anyone who has not had to run from surefall glade/qeynos hills/west karana/north karana/south karana/lake rathe will never understand. Oh, and as a side note, you get your *** handed to you in Lake rathe and get to do it all over again (good times)
6. "lake of ill omen"? "never heard of it". rewind a few years - player character ooc: lvl 25 "insert class" looking for group anywhere please for the love of god i need the experience".
7. You worked on smithing cuz you knew you could get 2pp per ac.
8. You camped dyllin starshing endlessly in HHK/HHP for the piece for the testament of venear and it was usally a few days wait in line. (mostly druids on this one)
9. The "ding" you hear when you leveled meant a helluva lot more.
10. (this ones gonna be long) The zones you loved were very populated and left you with tons of good times and memories and it was more about enjoying the game and exploring and having fun with friends/guildees/complete strangers than it was about leveling. People were actually kind/considerate/helpful. The game gave you a feeling that will probably never be matched by any other mmorpg including this one the way it is now. People actually used the /bow, /kneel command.

Now i realize these arent everyones opinion, nor concrete rules just my feelings and observations. So feel free to flame me, i dont care my living room is kinda chilly anyway.
10.

Freaking drachnids. Stupid, worthless drachnids! I hate you! I hate you!!!

lol. My first character was a barb shaman. I remember my friend who got me into EQ told me that LoIO was the place to be for my level. (Just finished with the bandits in Karana. Think it was around lvl 15 or so? Kunark was the latest expansion at the time) So, I ran all the way from Halas (had went back home to work on tailoring) to Freeport, took the boat, yada yada yada, and finally landed in Firiona Vie. Started running towards the lake, when BAM! Loading, Please Wait. DAMN!!! I forgot to bind!!! Back to Halas I went. Freaking drachnids! God I hate you!!!

How many times have you been killed by those ******* drachnids?

EDIT: Since this post is completly off topic anyway, I might as well mention that I will soon begin working on my Expert DoN armor. And that requires Drachnid silk. Payback time, you bastards!

i miss running down the tunnels of E. Commons to the merchants, then coming back to entrance where everyone rants, buffs, sells, groups, etc.. I also miss being low lvl there as a young shammy running for my life into the tunnel typing /help or /shout <help train! get em off me please!!!!>, because i messed with the wrong orc camp. awww remember orc camps! as convenient as PoK is and trust me I am grateful for it and don't blame any newer players for not knowing old zones, I miss old times. It just seemed more honorable back then. I could go on for hours about old times, of headaches and self satisfaction. know your lore and your roots.

one last thing, I turned in 2 bags of orc belts the other day and announced it to everyone! lol.

Explain please. You cannot swim across the Ocean of Tears from Freeport to Butcherblock. The only way you could zone into OoT before was to be ON THE BOAT. Now you use the magus. Something fishy here, pun intended.
#26 Jan 05 2006 at 12:59 PM Rating: Decent
Next time you want to know where a zone is stand in PoK and type: "/ooc how do you get to ___________?" Its easier and much less of a hassle.
