What happened to BB?Follow

I have recently started up a new cleric and have pretty much soloed him to lvl 15. After hitting lvl 7 I started hunting in Blackburrow. A few years back this was the zone for newbies to learn grp skills and lvl quickly. The leveling still rocks but now I'm the only one down there. Where have all the newbies gone? There is no one left to "train". No corpse runs, no fighting over the pit or commanders room. There used to be so many people in that zone, there was a waiting list to get in. The place hasn't changed and every once in while I'll see a 50+ lvl pop in saying he/she is just there to relive the past. Since returning to the game I lvled quickly down there and killed everything, except the courier. He almost got me, I had to zone and just for fun shouted, "TRAIN to ZONE", of course I had to run around the zone to get some other gnolls to follow. I used to hate sitting at the entrance, medding, getting up to get a drink or use the john, then missing the "Train to Zone" call. When I would get back from getting the drink I would find my poor soul being mugged by 20 gnolls. Those were the days!! Why has this zone become so empty and how many of you have fond memories of those ugly gnolls?

Heheh i remember being told to go to Blackburrow. that weird fossill thing near zonein. I remember seeing this gnoll thats ona ledge in the pit....

ooh i wonder can i nuke him and kill him from up here ?? lol..... 15 seconds later almost the entire zone spews out after me hot on my Trail. Looting fangs and turning them in then turning the orbs in for booze and money :).

Just Imagine if they made this one of the better HoT zones i bet itd be full. Up the spawn rate on lower lvl mobs and add a few more spawns on the top.

Higher lvl mobs the deeper you go.. even more so than now. I like Vertical style zones like BB and Velks. Ive been out of the game fer a while Any new vertical zones i should look into ?

It seems all the Noobs nowadays head to Field of Bone and then into Kurns.

I spent a lot of time in BB as late as a year or so ago with my new toons. Now, with the new tutorial taking you to level 15ish, my toons no longer use BB. I go straight to Crushbone or Paludal.

it's not that it's an old world zone, or that more folks head to kurns. it's the tutorial. head to any of the old high traffic places--barring FoB and Kurns which have always been popular--where a lot of us cut our teeth pre-tutorial and they're ghost towns.

i'm not bashing the tutorial, just saying i've seen a huge decrease in the traffic since its introduction. just how it goes.

sometimes with my guild we take shrouds and off we go to one of the old zones just for the sake of nostalgia and have a lot of fun there.

Hmm maybe we should organise a "nostalgia day" in any of these places on our server

I love Blackburrow. The great trains we used to see there. If you started in Qeynos, Surefall Glade or Halas then chances are you went to Blackburrow. If you were on the other side of the world then it was Crushbone. But basically still the same. A zone full of people, and when they got in trouble they ran for the zone with gnolls or orcs hot on their heels.

Paludal Caverns is now a much more popular place to level a low level because of the better experience. Kind of a shame if you ask me that they give bonuses to new zones to encourage people to buy an expansion, and in the process trivialize some of the great zones of the old world.

Just imagine if they made A high lvl instance version of bb/shudder just imagine falling in the pit if the Pirahna could summon....... or the massive train from the gnoll on the ledge

Or The occasional pop of a Dragon instead of that rabid bear Thatd be kewl:) speaking of which anyone still remember doing the rabid pelt quests?

now that was fun scramble for whoever got the bears first.. and wolfs too damn treehuggers liked to spoil the fun though. Then they went and nerfed the Rabid bear pop just as i got the spawn points down/sigh

...is what the Castle Mistmoore revamp should have been (and should still be available as). Messing with old lowbie zones that work (whether 95% empty or not) to make them high end zones does not make a lot of sense when other things can or need to be done.

You would almost think it would be a cheap gimmick to repackage old programming as new stuff with high level mobs and new drops. I am not convinced I like this gimmick but maybe it is harmless anyway.

I have to agree with people that have said instanced content hurts the community feel. To my thinking, instances make sense for quest end mobs. Completing the steps of the task to get my mob up makes sense. Instancing it to make it my group/raid's business makes sense.

Instances for popular Raid events is reasonable as well. In these 2 areas it is not harmful, probably a good thing. For regular xp grinding or dungeon hunting I feel the negative beat the good.

Well I can't say I've ever been to Blackburrow before but I know how you feel. I started playing right when Velious came out and man I had a blast with my Vah-Shir bst. Once you got to lvl 9 and got your summon warder ability and your spells you started to rock. I rember getting some info about this great place right off of the fay portal called Crushbone so I kinda followed a grp through Padula to to Shadowhaven and wandered about the city for an hour or so before I found the portal to the nexus then it was CB till lvl 18. I went back a few days ago with my lvl 11 war and there was a lvl 8 bard being PLed by a 50something cleric and me. Also I have fond memories of Hollowshade Moor if anyone rembers it. I figured out that I could solo pretty well so I went back to Velious and shar val and starded killing in the moor. Man I rember the war(anyone rember the war?).......Getting a group in the mid 20s to low 30s and doing everything we could to get the good drops and then at the end everyone going to the outpost to kill the big guy.....or getting killed when suddenly everything spawns on top of you. lol

I ment lulin just came out when I started playing
