A lot has changed in the last year. Some one is likely linking you the "there is too much to explain, just play thread" even as I am typing this. If you have been gone a year, you have missed the last two expansions.

I think it's a pretty safe bet EQ will be around for years to come. Next expansion hits next month.

Hope you have fun with whatever you do.

Welcome back then! I too have a toon on FV for casual playing, and also two on the test server. The rules haven't changed too much since you were away (I assume you were not 70 and a hard core raider playing as you were), so settle back and enjoy the new scenery. I would suggest you look at investing in the expansion Depths of Darkhollow to allow you to take the monster shrouds. I have found them to be quite useful, especially when tyring to solo with toons who are typically non-soloable classes. Not quite as good as the true professions, but a fun diversion. Good hunting to you!

No.. nothing FV rules wise has changed in the last year (or two).

Just last night I awoke to an Orge /SHOUTing (in Orge) for "everyone to stop jabbering and speak COMMON!".

It's not a waste if you have fun. This is the case with any game MMO or not. If you aren't having fun play something else. There's nothing wrong with playing Everquest. There is also nothing wrong with playing WoW, FFXI, or any other MMO new or old.

Different game styles and play are for different people. If this wasn't the case everyone would be the same class and race. People have their opinions and likes and dislikes. All I have to say is have fun with D&D, I'm looking forward to Vanguard.

i think i like it so much because it was the first mmo i ever tried.. i left her tried eq2 (BORRING!!!they took all the twinking out, made it so noob friendly that it sux, oh and took away pvp, heard they were bringin it back),, i tried WoW(BORRING!!!!!, it looks like warcraft 3 zoomed in, something about it i just didnt like) Every game i have played has left me borred except everquest. Dunno why, cant explain why i like it so much

Well with server population getting smaller it makes it hard to play whne you cant find a group.
its been almost a week now since ive been able to find more than 2 people for a group. So yes its becoimming a waste of time because some classes cant solo so if you cant find a group it makes it hard to have fun when your dying solo all the time.

Seriously...EQ isn't going anywhere for awhile.

Since 1996, still going. (Freaking amazing too. look at the screenshots. I'd rather do just plain text lol.)
The Realm

I was playing this like 10 years ago and it's still around and it's text (and it isn't cheap either)
DragonRealms

And just because something says 'D&D' doesn't mean it's gold. There's been some pretty crummy D&D stuff thrown out there over the years.

Though I do agree with MentalFrog, Vanguard is intriguing. I don't think any of these newer RPGs will kill Everquest outright, though.

Fair enough, I guess I've been lucky and haven't run into this problem much unless I'm playing on crazy off hours.

Do you have a guild to help you out?

Don't know what server you are on (if any because i get the feeling you haven't logged in any time recently dispite your post) but the server population on Ab is booming to say the least, 300+ in PoK at any one time.

The Undershore Mushroom MM has 40+ people all day every day and the HHk one is probably as busy.

The DoN camps are packed, the are full open raids every weekend and guilds are full to the brim at all levels. (400+ in my "family" guild.)

I haven't waited more than 30 mins for a group since i got back from Deployment (I'm Military) in November.
